JS GEDGE - Key Persons

Andrew Gedge

Andrew Gedge joined the business in 2004 to work full time, solidifying the status of us being a family-owned business in the same premises and same family since 1897, making us the oldest dealer in the world.

BY JOHN SURTEES GEDGE

First established all the way back in 1897 by John Surtees Gedge, we began as a humble cycle manufacturer and seller of Rudge Witworth cycles. We created a small shop, with a friendly atmosphere basing our service around you - the customer. We aimed to exceed expectations, delivering above and beyond for anyone who entered our doors. John's son, David Gedge then took over in 1947 selling at 1st Bicycles and the Cycle Master, a pedal-less cycle with a small engine attached. This was a huge deal, moving towards the first motorcycle sale we made. We moved onwards and upwards, selling Norman Nippy bikes, followed by NSU Quickly and Garelli bikes, along with PUCH and many others.
