Alex Langhorn

Alex Langhorn is admired for his outstanding legal knowledge, and he operates a broad criminal law practice for the prosecution and defence. He has extensive experience handling serious drug matters and as a Grade 4 prosecutor is regularly instructed by the North West Complex Case Unit. Arthur Gibson

Arthur Gibson is experienced in all forms of Criminal Law and has practised at all levels. He was junior counsel in R v Dietschmann (House of Lords) the leading authority in relation to drunkenness and diminished responsibility. He has been junior counsel for the defence in a number of high profile trials including R v Morrison (historical murder). R v Claridge (large scale child abuse featured extensively in the BBC Newsnight programme). He successfully represented a Defendant in Operation Motor a £18 million carousel fraud. In recent years he has developed an extensive prosecution practice and has led for the Crown in a number of cases Ð Operation Saffron, Snare, Swan & Tiger. He has recently been awarded a commendation by the Chief Constable of Cumbria in relation to the prosecution of financial crime. He is experienced in regulatory crime with particular emphasis on regulations in the agricultural industry. In addition to criminal law Arthur Gibson is also experienced in civil action involving assault, false imprisonment and malicious prosecution. He is a qualified prosectuor in relation to sexual offences and is often instructed in cases involving particular difficult issues arising for example, rape within arranged marriage in the Muslim community, and offences within members of foreign communities. He was one of the first counsel to be instructed on behalf of both prosecution and defence during the piloting of s28 (pre-trial cross-examination of victims). Following the enactment of the POCA he has developed a practice in relation to confiscation orders, being regularly instructed to advise on behalf of the defence and prosecution in relaiton to confiscation proceedings. He is presently instructed in consolidated appeals before the Court of Appeal in relation to further issues requiring resolution following the Supreme Court decisions in Waya and Ahmad.

Cheryl Mottram

Cheryl has a lot of experience dealing with young offenders both in the Youth Court and at the Crown Court. She has used this experience to deliver lectures to fellow practitioners on all aspects of dealing with young defendants. Having represented a number of defendants suffering from mental health disorders Cheryl is experienced in dealing with finding of fact hearings and sentences under the Mental Health Act 1983. Cheryl also deals with all aspects of motoring law. Cheryl believes that no matter what the offence the key to successful representation is ensuring that she is well prepared. Whether she is instructed to defend a simple speeding offence or a serious rape allegation, you can be assured that she will approach each case with the same care and thorough preparation. Background Cheryl has gained considerable and extensive experience in appearing for both the defence and prosecution in the criminal courts. With over 20 years of experience in Litigation and representation, Cheryl is regularly instructed in a wide range of matters including those of particular gravity such as section 18 assaults, large scale drug importation and supply, money laundering offences and serious sexual allegations. Many of the cases she has been involved in require further hearings dealing with proceeds of crime. As a result Cheryl has a good insight into this area of the law. She has made numerous trips to the Court of Appeal and is experienced in advising on the merits and grounds of any prospective appeal case.

Christopher Knagg

Practice Areas Civil Mr Knagg has a wide experience of claims where injury has been caused: workplace claims, public liability claims, road traffic accident claims and clinical negligence. He is regularly instructed in claims of significant value and complexity with a caseload including claims involving catastrophic injuries. He is instructed by both claimant's and insurer clients. He has instructed to represent parties at both JSM's and at mediation. He regularly accepts instructions on interlocutory matters, including cost case management hearings in multitrack claims. Mr Knagg can be trusted to adhere to time requirements in producing pleadings, advices and related paperwork and is skilled in advising on those technical and tactical matters inherent in litigation. Road Traffic Accident claims: he has a broad practice for both claimants and insurer clients in all forms of RTA work, including major, multi-party collisions, motor-cycle accidents, cyclist actions, accidents involving pedestrians, LVI allegations (both claimant and defendant), fraud allegations (claimant and defendant), credit hire and MIB claims. Employers Liability: he has a broad range of experience in this field of work garnered over nearly 30 years of receiving instructions in this type of action in varying degrees of complexity. Public / Occupiers Liability: Mr Knagg is regularly instructed to act in actions involving injury on the public highway concerning both local authorities and land-owners. He has also successfully pursued actions alleging breach of the Occupiers Liability Acts (1957 and 1984) against local authorities, schools, shops, restaurants and office premises. Clin ical negligence: he has a broad experience in pursuing claims involving negligent treatment including claims concerning clinical consent, plastic surgery, negligent surgery and negligent clinical advice. Actioans have been successfully pursued against various NHS Trusts and GP's. Mr Knagg has provided training and seminars to solicitors on a wide range of topics, including: litigation basics & case preparation, how to run a claim where allegations of fraud / LVI are made, Part 36 offers, how to draft a witness statement, credit hire and highway tripping claims.

Georgia Richardson

Georgia is an active member of Amicus ALJ, delivering training and webinars to prospective death penalty defence interns, as well as assisting in delivering capital defence training within the Bryan R. Schechmeister Death Penalty College at Santa Clara University, California. Additionally, Georgia sits on the Leadership Committee of Black Women in Law.

Hannah Brookfield

Miss Brookfield is an established practitioner and was called to the Bar by the Honourable Society of the Inner Temple in 2011. She practices in all areas of Civil Litigation, primarily those involving cases of personal injury with a focus on cases involving serious injury.
