ANDREAS MICHAELAS

Andreas has been with British Wrestling since March 2018. Also as part of his role, he is the Safeguarding and Anti-Doping Lead. Andreas has been involved in sport since 1991 and Olympic Weightlifting since 1999. His experience includes having won numerous British records and titles, from Youth to Senior level. He competed for England and Great Britain, won numerous internationals, including three medals at the Commonwealth Youth Games and the European Promotion Cup in 2004. Andreas previously worked for British Weight Lifting, as the Development Manager (North) before joining British Wrestling in 2018. He volunteered for British Wrestling Commonwealth Games 2018 Gold Coast Squad as their Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2016 - 2018. CRAIG ANTHONY - CEO

Craig became British Wrestling Chief Executive on 1st September 2019. Prior to joining British Wrestling, Craig spent 12 years in the sport sector, including time working for GreaterSport and a local culture trust where he worked with national governing bodies and sports clubs including the BWA and our clubs in the Greater Manchester area. In 2014 Craig joined British Orienteering, leading their development team to deliver significant growth in participation, and managing the talent and performance programme that won World and European medals at junior and senior level. As Chief Executive of British Wrestling, Craig leads the Association's staff and volunteers and is accountable for strategic development, marketing, fundraising, performance, financial management in line with the corporate philosophy. Craig is an executive member of the Board and also Company Secretary. Craig is a husband and father of two who enjoys spending time with his family. He regularly plays rugby union and participates in a range of other sports and outdoor activities.

Ian started wrestling in his early twenties. At the time, sport was really encouraged in his place of work, and there were some really good wrestlers. After about 15 years of competing, Ian decided to take up refereeing as a way of keeping involved in the sport, and in 2001 he qualified as a FILA International Grade 3 official. Since then Ian has officiated at numerous international tournaments. Ian took up the role of Chair of the Welsh Wrestling Association in January 2016. Ian seems to spend most of his time at work. He's married with two children, so balancing family, work, and wrestling can be a bit of a challenge!

Judith Duffin

Judith is a solicitor-advocate and has significant expertise in regulatory law, large investigations and advising on a variety of governance issues. Judith's current role involves representing core participants in public inquiries. Judith is a member of the RFU's Independent Judicial Panel, Paddle UK's (formerly British Canoeing) Disciplinary, Disputes and Appeals Panel and has also been appointed to The FA's National Serious Case Panel. Judith has a Postgraduate Certificate in Sports Law and previously played football competitively and hockey at national league level. Judith joined the BWA as a non-executive director in April 2024.

MARK COOPER

Mark has held a number of very senior Group Executive roles as Chief Operating Officer, Divisional President and Group Operations Director with major organizations such as Bombardier, London Underground Metronet and BAE Systems. More recently Mark has worked independently in major international organisations and Infrastructure Projects in UK (including HS2), Europe and Australia, as well as working as one of the Executive Team of Crossrail TfL in London, most recently on the Elizabeth line. Mark has wrestled for many years and holds a Level 2 UKCC Coaching Certificate in Wrestling, he also holds very senior Dan grades and formal ranks in Japanese martial arts, which he has practiced now for over 40 years.

RASHID HUSSAIN

Rashid has been working in the charity and sports sector for the last 10 years. He has a particular interest in developing sports clubs and working with grassroots organisations, helping them to develop their capacity and to fundraise better. He has been involved in Wrestling for several years helping disadvantaged and marginalised young people in his local area learn the wonderful art of wrestling. Steven is an experienced chair and Board member of a number of consumer facing organisations and has been the Chair of GB Boxing since 2013. Other business he chairs includes SEDEX, Andrews Property Group and the Advantage Travel Partnership, as well as currently being a non-Exec director at the Rank Group. His executive career included a Board position at Marks & Spencer, prior to that he was Managing Director of Waitrose, rapidly expanding the business and leading the successful repositioning of Waitrose as a national fresh food retailer. He was also a member of the John Lewis Partnership Board, before joining the Partnership, Steven spent most of his career at Sainsbury's in commercial roles.

Tony Melling BSc CEng was a Principal Engineer and Senior Manager for a Nuclear Reprocessing Company prior to his retirement in 2010. Tony is married with two children. His involvement in wrestling, similar to many parents in sport was as a taxi for his sons before becoming Club Secretary. During the next 30 years he held various roles on Regional, English and BWA committees. In addition to his BWA Board role, Tony is currently Northern Region Secretary and Chair of the Interim England Committee. He was the Competition Manager for 2002 Manchester Commonwealth Games, Field of Play Manager for 2012 London Olympic Games and Technical Official for the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
