ATLAS TRANSLATIONS - Key Persons

Anna Davis

Job Titles:
  • PA / Accounts
Our accounts whizz is Anna Davis. Her path to Atlas Translations did not take the most obvious route. Anna began her career as a children's nurse before leaving hospital-based nursing entirely to take a degree in Public Health and become a health visitor. Her career in the NHS ended in 2009 when she left to have the third of what turned out to be four children. When she returned to work, Anna set off in a new direction and joined a local primary school where she launched and ran its Facebook and Twitter pages as well as the school's website.

Charlie Reston

Job Titles:
  • Marketing Manager
Charlie Reston started with us at Atlas Translations in 2021 as Marketing Manager. We interviewed her for something else, and she just blew our socks off with every aspect of her application. With a Music and Spanish BA and MA in Translation Studies, her interest in languages is clear. This is backed up with great work experience and confidence. On top of this, her video application really stood out. Her energy is clear, and she is just the right person to work with us on our marketing going forward. We were delighted when she was awarded ‘Newcomer of the Year' by the Institute of Translation and Interpreting in May 2022 - very much deserved! Charlie often helps out with project management work, so you may well get to chat to her sometimes. Charlie describes herself as an ‘outdoorsy' person, who enjoys walking holidays and kayaking with her local canoe club. She's also a keen classical guitarist, and designed and published the All Round Music Book Series. Do you have LinkedIn? Can you afford not to attract more customers from other countries? Import, export, service, legal, websites, contracts… right down to the labels telling you how to wash your clothes. Language is everywhere and if you don't look to overseas markets you are missing out. And it's not just the written word - interpreters will smooth the way at meetings, and voice-overs and subtitles can help with opening existing videos on your website to a whole new market. Clare was the Corporate Representative on the Board of the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI) from 2013 to 2020. She invests time and expertise in promoting the translation and interpreting profession with talks, exhibitions and training courses. She also posts on LinkedIn and Instagram, and blogs with help and advice for translators and interpreters at all stages of their careers. Atlas worked with ITI to introduce IgnITIon - a dedicated and unique publication specifically for students of translation and interpreting. James Martin

Job Titles:
  • Manager, St Albans
James Martin has made sure that his language skills (in Russian and French) are being put to good use with the work we do here at Atlas and enjoys chatting to our translators and clients about their respective languages and projects. He hasn't let his studies fall by the wayside either and is currently learning some German. He generally takes an interest in the grammar of foreign languages. This sounds a lot better when he talks about it… During the pandemic James worked solidly! We did force him to take a few days off but he is quite dedicated.

Jim Hearn

Job Titles:
  • Operations Manager
Jim Hearn joined Atlas in early 2012 as a Project Manager, and is now Operations Manager. Jim came to Atlas with a background in market research and hospitality, and has now spent over 10 years working with languages and has built a wealth of experience managing multilingual projects across a range of services. In 2021, Jim and family made a big move to live in Bath, where he is enjoying making connections and being part of the business community there. Keen to expand his own linguistic capabilities, Jim has been enjoying studying Japanese for the last couple of years. Calm and organised, he's excellent at managing projects large and small, whilst also keeping the office team running smoothly. Every company needs a Jim and we are very lucky to have him!

Joanna Maciejewska

Job Titles:
  • Project Manager
Joanna Maciejewska is a native of Śrem, Poland, where she lived most of her life until embarking on an Erasmus Programme in Andalusia. This was followed by a few nomadic years living in Spain, Portugal and Estonia. Joanna is now in the UK for the next chapter of her story. Although she has struggled to pronounce those Rs in French, thanks to living in Spain for some time, she can get by quite well in Spanish. Working with languages has always been Joanna's dream. She has a BA in English Studies and MA in Business Innovation. And so it was only natural for her to apply for a Project Coordinator role at Atlas. Having worked in a few backpacker hostels in her university days, Joanna savours the enriching experience of being in a multinational environment. Despite her passion for travel, she is quite a homebody and enjoys peaceful evenings with a book. She also likes drawing, making cards, and crafts. While a fan of hot chocolate and good coffee, Joanna realised pretty quickly that working in the UK with an avid team of tea drinkers requires fast adapting. Now she can proudly say that she's a professional tea drinker - with milk(?!!) From 2023, Joanna is not only managing projects but also our social media presence. Drawing on her previous experience in content writing, she's also taking care of our blog.

Stefania Orlotti

Job Titles:
  • Project Manager
Stefania Orlotti was born and raised in a small village in the south of Italy. She graduated from the University of Naples "L'Orientale". with a Master's Degree in Linguistics and Specialised Translation. Naturally, this has proven to be very useful in her chosen career! In 2012 Stefania embarked on a grand tour of Europe. This put her learning into practice and let her experience a variety of other cultures. Stefania's language skills were further enhanced during her time away, with constant use of French and English. Stefania joined Atlas Translations in 2013 on a work placement initially for three months. Because we were so impressed, we extended her stay (twice) having her with us for nine months - and she discovered her love of language was matched by a talent for project management. During the pandemic, Stefania worked just as hard as ever, and is working on getting her small son to say Thank You more clearly so it doesn't sound rather rude.
