AMANDA TABER

Amanda Taber has over 25 years of experience in the property industry. Over the past 20 years this has mainly been dealing with Licences to Alter matters in Central London, both for large Landlords (including major Landed Estates) and also for applicants. Her philosophy is to ensure that the best interests of the building, the tenant and the landlord are fully considered and taken into account.

David Betteridge

David Betteridge started his career with a large national construction company, working on a number of large commercial and retail developments in London and the Home Counties, and qualified as a Chartered Building Surveyor in 1989. He has also attained professional status with the Chartered Association of Building Engineers. David is a very experienced Building Surveyor with in excess of 35 years in the property industry predominantly in the commercial, data centre/ mission critical and private/public residential sectors. David Betteridge joined Murray Birrell in 2011 and he was promoted to the board as Director in 2015. Qualifying as a Chartered Surveyor in 1989, David has over 35-years' experience in the property industry. David leads on Landlord and Tenant Matters, including Licence to Alter and Tenant Fit-Out Monitoring services. He attained Associate status with the Chartered Association of Building Engineers in 2014.

Sam Field

Sam Field has worked in private practice throughout his career, starting as a trainee Chartered Building Surveyor in 1996. After joining Murray Birrell in 2013 he has progressed to become a Director of the business. Sam is qualified as a Chartered Surveyor. Sam is also qualified as an Incorporated Member of the Association for Project Safety and leads on all matters relating to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. Whilst his experience covers all core building surveying skills, he now specialises in contract administration, associated legal and party wall matters and principal designer. In 2022, Sam was made a Liveryman of The Worshipful Company of Coopers and is also The Surveyor to Coopers Company. Sam Field joined the company in 2013 and has worked in private practice since 1996. He qualified as a Chartered Surveyor and is now Director and Head of Construction. Sam is also qualified as an Incorporated Member of the Association for Project Safety and leads on all matters relating to the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015. He also specialises in Contract Administration, Associated Legal and Party Wall Matters, and Principal Designer duties.

STUART BIRRELL

Stuart Birrell has been a Chartered Building Surveyor for more than 40 years, and has worked in private practice throughout his career on major projects including alterations and major repairs and schemes for improvement, as well as in the role of project manager and Employer's Agent for both the private and public sectors. In recent years he has specialised in party wall and neighbourly matters and as Expert Witness in both contract and neighbourly disputes. Further to qualifying in 1981, Stuart became a Fellow in 1995 and has been in private practice for over 40 years. From 2019-2021, Stuart served as Chairman of the London Branch and National Council member of the Pyramus & Thisbe Society, a Learned Society to promote Education and Excellence in Party Wall practice and he remains on the board.
