EKO was founded in 1946 by Egon Kohn. The company initially founded on the highly skilled services of upholstery and cabinet making developed into furniture retailing in the 1950's and later contract furniture in the early 1970's. Early success with high profile government and corporate contracts led to further expansion during the 1980's leading to EKO developing strong distribution alliances and partnerships with major European Design companies. By the mid 1990's EKO was a major supplier of office furniture to the large corporations relocating to Canary Wharf, extensive contracts with corporate banking and legal sector clients led to EKO having supplied furniture to over a million sq ft of office space at Canary wharf and the City of London by the beginning of the new millennium.
