I was delighted to join Batcheller Monkhouse in 2014 as a Viewing Assistant, thus giving me the happy mixture of being able to work and look after my young family. In 2016 the opportunity arose to join the Sales team as a Negotiator. I greatly enjoy my job and am passionate about helping buyers find their perfect home. Whilst bringing up our family my husband and I undertook many renovation projects enabling me to gain experience in all aspects of the property world which has been a huge advantage in my role with Batcheller Monkhouse.

I initially worked in the travel industry, moving to learn estate agency in 2002, at first working in central London and in 2006 returning to work in Sussex. I joined Batcheller Monkhouse in 2014. Having grown up in West Sussex, my experience and knowledge means I am well placed to help both our town and rural clients. At the weekend, I can often be found encouraging on the sidelines at football, rugby and gymnastic events. Running and occasionally cycling help me keep fit and I still retain my passion for travel.
Chris Tipping FRICS FAAV Partner I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 2006 and joined the Tunbridge Wells office of Batcheller Monkhouse in 2013. I am now based at the Haywards Heath office, where with David Blake we have established a Rural Professional department. I have an in-depth background in Estate Management, Rural Consultancy, Valuations and Development Agreements. As an AMC Agent and Valuer I have assisted landowners and farmers to expand and diversify their businesses. I am an Assessor for the RICS Assessment of Professional Competence. In 2018-2020 I was Chairman of the Sussex and Adjoining Counties Agricultural Valuers Association. When time allows I enjoy travelling, football and mountain biking. One of my aspirations is to cycle the whole South Downs Way in a single day.
Following completion of a masters degree in Urban and Regional Planning Christine started her career working for a local authority before moving to a private sector consultancy becoming a Charted Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) in 2016. She joined Batcheller Monkhouse in 2021. Christine has experience across the planning sector from small scale commercial projects to larger scale residential developments. She particularly enjoys working on projects involving heritage considerations as well as projects for bespoke contemporary dwellings. In her spare time Christine enjoys baking, walks in the Sussex countryside and also volunteering for a local befriending charity.

David Blake MRICS FAAV Consultant I have been associated with farming in Sussex all my life and am fortunate to have been able to continue this involvement through my career as a Chartered Surveyor and Agricultural Valuer, qualifying in 1986. With Chris Tipping I established the Batcheller Monkhouse Professional department in Haywards Heath. My specialism is agricultural valuations, all matters concerning farm tenancies, Basic Payment Scheme applications and land management. I am a Tenant Farmers' Association and AMC valuer. Also, a past Chairman of the Sussex Agricultural Valuers' Association and a long standing member of the Examination Board of the Association. At home, the farming life continues, managing my own holding and looking after the livestock.

I graduated from Harper Adams University in 2021 with a BSc (Hons) in Rural Enterprise and Land Management. In my placement year I worked at the Mount Stuart Trust, Rothesay on the Isle of Bute and relished the variety of my role surrounded by the beautiful countryside. Following graduation, I worked as a Graduate Surveyor for Rendells in Devon. Here I gained experience in various areas including land and farm sales, livestock markets, agricultural planning, valuations and Countryside Stewardship. I have recently relocated to the South East, where I have joined a running club. I have completed the Exeter Half Marathon and aim to complete the Brighton Marathon.

Since the year 2000 I have been an Estate Agent, working mainly in the home counties and across Surrey, Sussex and Kent for some large, well known corporate agencies as well as some small and individual independent firms. I have a detailed knowledge of Haywards Heath and the surrounding villages as my family have lived in the area for many years and I reside in the beautiful Ashdown Forest. At home I have a keen interest in historical architecture and I am a fully-fledged member of the National Trust. I grew up in Buckinghamshire but moved to Sussex to manage the office of an Estate Agency in Burgess Hill. However, to satisfy my "wander-lust" I took some time out and travelled South Africa. On my return I worked for a number of years for an Estate Agents in London, returning to Sussex to join Batcheller Monkhouse (Batcheller Thacker) in 2008. My secretarial career began in a hospital, audio typing and deciphering doctors' handwriting. I have worked for solicitors, social workers and the National Trust. I later decided to go self-employed with a wider variety of clients, one being Batcheller Thacker. I now focus entirely on Batcheller Monkhouse. My home city is Oxford which is where I began my Estate Agency career before moving to London in the early 1990's to work for the next 18 years in the extremely busy areas of Putney, Richmond & Twickenham. The move to East Sussex in 2010 was to be nearer family and it was the best thing I ever did! I started working for Batcheller Monkhouse in Battle before moving to the Haywards Heath office and then to Tunbridge Wells where I work part time to support the team in any way I am able to, which I greatly enjoy. Having studied History at London University, I went on to qualify as a Solicitor and work in the busy corporate department of a city law firm, advising on a range of corporate and commercial transactions. With a young family, we decided to move out of London to Tunbridge Wells. After a career break, I joined Batcheller Monkhouse where I work as a Telecoms Surveyor, advising private, government and commercial landlords on all aspects of Telecoms related issues.
Helen Clouting BSc (Hons) MRICS Surveyor I grew up on a family farm situated on the Surrey/ West Sussex border. Having graduated from Harper Adams University with a degree in Rural Estate and Land Management, I joined Batcheller Monkhouse in 2019. I am currently based in the Haywards Heath Professional Department, where I qualified as a Chartered Surveyor. My day-to-day role includes stocktaking valuations, agri-environmental schemes, Basic Payment Scheme applications, valuations, assisting with farm tenancy matters, compulsory purchase work and rural estate management. I continue to help on the family farm, and in my spare time enjoy most sports or walking the dog, either on the beach or in the Surrey Hills. I am currently working towards my exams to become a Fellow of the Central Association of Agricultural Valuers.
I moved to London from East Kent and began my administrative experience in the NHS. I then moved into the Corporate Banking world of Mergers and Acquisitions. I took a career break to look after my young family and returned to work as a general admin assistant in the professional department at Batcheller Monkhouse. I enjoy the variety of the work and the opportunities that it has presented. My role also involves central administrative tasks and I am continuing to learn new skills. Outside of work I enjoy keeping fit and going to the theatre.
I have enjoyed a successful career predominantly in residential Lettings. This began over 20 years ago for a firm in Sevenoaks. I later joined a national firm of Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents, attaining my FARLA accreditation in 2005. In 2015 I was ready for a change and moved to a new home by the sea. My early years were spent overseas, settling in Sussex as a teenager and then studied at The Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester. I started my career in Estate Agency working in London for 6 years however, I was fortunate to return to the countryside selling houses in and around Rye and later Cranbrook. In 2011 I joined Batcheller Monkhouse in Tunbridge Wells. When I am not at work I spend my time by the sea living in St Leonards. I have been with the firm in its various guises since 1976. Firstly with King & Chasemore and then Monkhouse & Partners. We then merged with Bannisters and finally became Batcheller Monkhouse. I have worked with David Blake since we merged with Bannisters acting for our farming clients across the area. I live in the countryside north of Horsham and currently have 33 lambs grazing my field and, at the moment, one Labrador! My interests are horses and gardening but definitely not housework.
My family background has always been involved in property, with my father starting his estate agency business on his dining room table in the 1950's. I initially trained as a bi-lingual secretary and worked in London for many years, before becoming a full-time mother. During that time, I ran a small catering company with my sister and we catered for many Batcheller Monkhouse events. I started working as a Viewing Assistant for the Battle Office in 2018 and then joined the Accounts Department in 2022. I love everything to do with the countryside (horses, dogs and long walks). I have been involved with property for more than 40 years. 16 of those years are in land and new homes through-out the South East. Having always lived in East Sussex, I have great knowledge of the area and offer a complete and tailored marketing campaign to showcase developments. Having completed my degree in Environmental Planning and postgraduate qualifications in Town Planning at Anglia Ruskin University, I worked for a number of local authorities in Essex in their planning enforcement and development management teams and the enforcement section at Westminster City Council. I moved to the private sector working for a planning consultancy in Kent for 10 years where I was able to broaden my knowledge and experience. In 2015 I joined Batcheller Monkhouse. I love working in conjunction with my colleagues to provide solutions which cover a range of professional planning and development areas.
I have worked for Batcheller Monkhouse for over 20 years. I started my career in Estate Agency in 1983 with the firm Braxtons and later joined Batcheller Thacker (now Batcheller Monkhouse) in Battle in 1999. I have always lived in East Sussex and moved to Rye 10 years ago. Family and friends are important to me. Since 1997, I have worked for mobile telephone operators and infrastructure providers as Acquisition Surveyor, Acquisition Manager, Asset Manager and Estates Surveyor, working in communication with landlords. I joined Batcheller Monkhouse in 2023 as a Consultant to defend landlords' interests in the confusing post Electronic Communications Code world. I have a wealth of technical knowledge from 25 years of experience in the telecoms world. I was born and raised on a farm and more recently set up a successful farm co-op in my village as well as gaining experience in crop-loss valuation. When I was younger, I studied architecture and spent 10 years running a team in the building trade, before specialising in the practical design of rooftop installations for BT. This has given me a good day-to-day knowledge of the implications of rooftop installations.

I graduated with a degree in Rural Land Management from the Royal Agricultural University. Having grown up in both the Sussex and Staffordshire countryside, I have an engrained passion for the rural sector and all that goes with it. I am currently based in the Haywards Heath Professional office. Recently I have been developing my experience and knowledge in Diversification and Estate Management, as well as assisting in other professional work such as Compulsory Purchase orders. I am currently working towards attaining my MRICS qualification. When I am not in the office, I can usually be found on the South Downs walking endlessly or in both the sea and rivers partaking in wild swimming.
I commenced at Monkhouse and Bannisters in January 2000 as a Secretary/Receptionist for the Sales Department. After having a baby I moved to the Pulborough Professional Department to work for Alex and his team. I have a love of farming which I inherited from my parents who farmed in and around Steyning, Sompting and Arundel and in my hey day was a keen Young Farmer. When not at work I'm busy with 4 equines, a Bernese cross puppy oh and a husband called Chris! I have worked within estate agency since 1983 in West Sussex having been involved in most aspects of the business. Primarily providing full secretarial support, my role at Batcheller Monkhouse also includes the preparation of brochures, window cards and other sales material. A family background in property, drew me to estate agency and I first met Robert Batcheller in 1976. In 1987 he offered me the opportunity to work for Braxtons, to run the Battle office, which under my care became the most profitable office for the firm in the southeast! In 1991 I joined Robert Batcheller with Charles Thacker as they started Batcheller Thacker. I have made sure to keep abreast of technology and electronic advancements which enabled me to take the challenge of forming a marketing department for Batcheller Thacker at its merger in 2011 with Monkhouse and Bannisters. Having studied Business at Brighton University, I started my career over 20 years ago gaining experience as an Office Manager, Global Immigration Manager and Legal Secretary. I have worked mainly in the legal sector, both in the UK and Dubai, eventually settling in West Sussex eight years ago and joined Batcheller Monkhouse in 2018 as an Administrator supporting our Chartered Surveyors in the Pulborough office. Estate agency has been my life-long career and passion. Firstly, as a Partner with Braxtons a highly respected firm in East Sussex. Secondly establishing Batcheller Thacker in 1991 at Battle concentrating in the sale of country houses and cottages. Since that time the firm has expanded into other disciplines and merged to form Batcheller Monkhouse. My wife and I greatly enjoy our equestrian interests, especially eventing, together with gardening, dog walking and having fun.

Having grown up in a small village in Kent I have lived in various towns around East and West Sussex, before recently moving to Tunbridge Wells. I have enjoyed varied roles at Gatwick Airport, Kent and Surrey Police, the National Trust, 2 years with Batcheller Monkhouse previously and latterly as Assistant Estate Manager on a private estate in Sussex. I rejoined Batcheller Monkhouse in November 2022 as Property Manager in the Estate Management Team. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my partner, socialising with friends, all types of dancing, reading and walking.
I have lived in Kent for the last 15 years and have worked in the Estate Agency industry for the last 10 years covering the East Sussex and Kent area. I joined the Batcheller Monkhouse Lettings team in 2023, working in both the Battle and Tunbridge Wells offices. With a background in both Sales and Lettings, I am looking forward to applying my skills to the role of Property Manager. Outside of the office I love to cook, read, and spend time with my family.
