The Hawthorns Estate is a fourth-generation family business. Norton H. Padfield arrived with his family in 1905, taking over the tenancy of the 358 acre farm. Today, the estate, trading as R.N. Padfield & Sons Ltd, is headed by Norton's great grandson, Chris... We built our first silage clamps to enable us to produce and feed high-quality silage on the farm without needing to bale... We invested in a new combine harvester, Massey Harris 788 and changed to bulk storage and on-floor drying of grain.
