SHAWLANDS DENTAL PRACTICE - Key Persons

Fiona Harper

Fiona graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1991 and spent time in general practice in Irvine, Cumbernauld, Renfrew and Croftfoot before joining Shawlands Dental Practice in 2004. She has two postgraduate qualifications - one in Forensic Medical Sciences and an MFGDP from the Royal College of Surgeons in London, awarded in 2006. Fiona is fluent in French and Spanish and has often been called upon as an impromptu translator in the practice. She became a partner in Shawlands Dental Practice in 2005.

Joan Clifford

Joan qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1997, completing her Vocational Training in Govan, before taking up a post with Ian Macdonald and Brian Davidson at 1425 Pollokshaws Road in 1999. A popular member of the team, Joan has provided a continuous service to her large band of loyal patients for many years and the current partners were delighted when she chained herself to the radiator and refused to leave following the change of ownership. Joan is the practice lead on clinical audit and has been one of the main drivers in the strong ethos of continual professional development and coordinating the team approach at Shawlands Dental Practice.

John Keenan

John graduated from the University of Glasgow in 1989 and worked for 5 years in practice in Renfrew, first as a Vocational Trainee then as an associate, before moving to Fife. She is the longest serving dentist at the practice, having been established there when John Keenan and Gerard Boyle purchased it in April 2000.

Michael Roarty

Michael has joined Shawlands Dental Practice as a partner in 2019, after spending 13 years working in general practice in Shettleston. In this time he has gained great experience on all aspects of general dental care, with a particular focus being on helping anxious patients - he is experienced in Intravenous Sedation and has helped mentor other dentists to be able to provide this. He looks forward to continuing the great care of his predecessors at Shawlands Dental Practice. Outside of dentistry Michael enjoys sports, traveling and especially spending time with his young family.

Sheena Keenan

Sheena qualified in 1989 from the University of Glasgow and has worked in general practice in Greenock, Renfrew and Cumbernauld. She joined the practice as a partner in 2005 and works part-time. Sheena is the sporty person in the practice, a former hockey player, a Fifer and lifelong staunch supporter of Dunfermline F.C. (John has only married into the club). You can see who wears the trousers in that house (just saying…).
