Waugh & Co was established in 1840. The founders of the firm were C H Waugh and E J Waugh who between them held most of the prominent positions in the town including the post of Registrar of Births Marriages and Deaths and Clerk to the County Court and Magistrates Court. They were closely involved in the formation of the Haywards Heath and District Building Society and in the early days acted for the Cuckfield Rural District Council...
