WBW - Key Persons
Alexandra Croft is a Partner and works in the Property department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in June 2021 and is the Branch Manager of our Sidmouth office.
Alexandra specialises in Residential Property matters, in particular she deals with Freehold and Leasehold Sales and Purchases, Newbuild Sales and Purchases, Transfers of Property, Remortgages and First Registrations.
Before training as a solicitor, she studied History at Aberystwyth University and graduated in 2006. She then went on to complete her Graduate Diploma in Law at Guildford College of Law and her Legal Practice Course at Bristol Institute of Legal Practice. Alexandra qualified as a solicitor in 2012 having trained at a local law firm.
Alexandra is approachable and efficient and as a result of this she has had many repeat clients who have come to her regularly for assistance with their legal work. She appreciates that dealing with property matters can be stressful and understands that good communication with clients along with timely and sound execution of the legal work is essential.
She continues to extend her professional development and to keep up to date on Property Law matters by attending courses throughout the year and taking assessments each year in relation to the Conveyancing Quality Scheme.
When she is not at work, she particularly enjoys spending time with her family on outdoor adventures.
Amanda Angus is a Legal Assistant in the Court of Protection Team of the Private Client Department at WBW Solicitors. She joined in July 2021 and is primarily based in the Newton Abbot office.
Amanda is involved in all areas of Court of Protection work, assisting Nadia Kelley, in particular preparing Deputyship applications and helping to manage Attorney and Deputyship matters. She also has experience working in probate administration from earlier on in her career. Amanda began her career in law in 2003 so brings with her a wealth of experience.
Amanda studied Philosophy at Staffordshire University and outside of work enjoys yoga, dog walks with her partner, playing golf and unwinding with a good novel.
Amanda Farley is a Solicitor and works in the Private Client department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in February 2022 and is based in the Honiton office.
Amanda specialises in all aspects of private client work including wills, administration of estates, inheritance tax planning, lasting powers of attorney and deputyship applications.
She studied Law at Staffordshire University and received her LLB Hons qualification in 2012. In 2017 Amanda gained an LLM Masters qualification in legal practice and in the same year also qualified as a Solicitor at a small Devon law firm. She has remained working in Devon and has developed good relationships within the local community and with her clients.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys exploring outdoors with her young family and spending time with friends.
Amanda Sells is a Paralegal and works in the Corporate Department at WBW Solicitors. Amanda joined the firm in August 2023 and is based three days a week in the Exeter office and one day a week in the Newton Abbot office.
Amanda assists the head of the Corporate and Commercial department with transactional work including business sales and purchases, mergers and partnership matters. Amanda also assists with share re-structuring work, company incorporations and the provision of company secretarial services to SME's.
She qualified as an Associate Member of the Institute of Legal Executives in 2009.
She loves to spend time with her family, walking, cooking and enjoying the countryside, coastline and hospitality for which the South West is renowned.
Amber Jennings is a Legal Assistant and works in the Private Client department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in 2016 and is based in the Newton Abbot office.
Amber specialises in the preparation of Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Estates.
She is currently studying with CILEx and began her studies in 2019.

Andrea Curtis is a Private Client Advisor at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in January 2024 and is based in the Seaton Office.
Andrea specialises in Wills, Estates and Powers of Attorney. She has previously worked as a paralegal managing her own caseload in Private Client for nearly 8 years with a firm based in East Devon, prior to which she spent 5 years with a firm in central Exeter working in the Private Client department.
Andrea studied with CILEx Law School whilst working as a Paralegal at her previous firm and qualified as a CILEx Paralegal in March 2023 having obtained her Level 3 Diploma in Law and Practice. Andrea intends to continue with her Level 6 CILEx studies to achieve Chartered Legal Executive status.

Anju Newcombe is a Partner in the property department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in 2018 and is based in the Exeter office.
Anju practises in most areas of residential property, but specialises in new builds and heads up our new build team which is based in our Exeter office.
Anju has been practising residential property since she qualified as a Solicitor in 2000. She became a Partner in a law firm based in Dorset in 2004 and then took four years out of the profession in 2008 to spend time with her young family. She returned to work in 2012 having moved to Exeter in 2010. Before joining WBW Solicitors in 2018, Anju worked for a local law firm in Exeter.
Anju is a member of the property section at the Law Society and sits as a counsellor on her local parish council.

Annaka is a Trainee Solicitor and works in the Private Client team at WBW Solicitors in Newton Abbot. She joined the firm in 2022 whilst in the last year of her degree, working in the Private Client team.
Anne Keate is a Licensed Conveyancer and works in the Property Department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in 2021 and is based in the Chard office.
Anne specialises in all aspects of residential conveyancing including sales and purchases of both freehold and leasehold properties, re-mortgaging, transfers of equity, shared ownership and new build properties. Anne has worked in local law firms for over 25 years and has a wealth of knowledge of the local property market in Chard, Illminster and the surrounding areas. She studied whilst working to become a Licensed Conveyancer and qualified in 2001.
In her free time, Anne enjoys watching football and regularly attends Plainmoor, the home of Torquay United, where she has been a season ticket holder for over 30 years. She also enjoys walking and always has a book on the go to read

Anthony Fripp is a Partner and Head of the Commercial Property team. He joined the firm in 2006 and is the Branch Manager of our Torquay office.
Anthony has expertise in all landlord and tenant matters and commercial sales and purchases. He also acts for existing high value clients in bespoke residential property work.
Anthony has specialised in Property work since qualifying as a Solicitor in 1999, including working for a couple of years in a large city practice in Belfast. He has worked in Devon since 2001 and has been with WBW since October 2006.
Anthony volunteers for Guide Dogs for the Blind, housing trainee guide dogs being trained locally. He is also a Governor at Exminster Community Primary School and a listening volunteer for The Samaritans. In what free time his work and volunteering duties allow, he has a variety of sporting interests and is a keen cerevisaphile.
Ashleigh McClements is a Solicitor and works in the Property department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in 2021 and is based in the Seaton office.
She specialises in Residential Property matters including the sale and purchase of properties.
Prior to joining the property department, she worked as an account manager for a national law firm and is highly experienced in client care.
Ashleigh studied law at Liverpool John Moores University and received her LLB qualification in 2010. After university, she worked for a London based estate agents and then decided to return to her studies in 2018 when she sat and passed her LPC and Masters qualification in Law and Business at The University of Law in Exeter. She qualified as a Solicitor in January 2024.
In her free time, Ashleigh spends time with her young son and her family. She enjoys yoga, swimming and tennis after work and helping out in her husbands beach shop on weekends. Ashleigh loves living in the South West and getting out and about enjoying the many local events.

Ashton Sutcliffe is a Senior Associate in the Property department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in 2015 and is based in the Bovey Tracey office.
Ashton specialises in residential conveyancing matters, including the sale and purchase of houses.
She studied for her law degree at the University of West of England in Bristol and then went on to pass the Legal Practice Course in Plymouth. After her studies, she worked in the conveyancing department of a large law firm before joining a smaller South West law firm as a law graduate where she qualified as a Solicitor in January 2018.
Ashton has always lived and worked in the South West so she is extremely familiar with the local area.

Ben Thomas is a Licensed Conveyancer and works in the Property department at WBW Solicitors. He joined the firm in April 2023 and is currently based in our Brixham office.
Ben specialises in residential sales and purchases including leasehold work. He also carries out re-mortgages, help to buy loan redemptions, adverse possession claims, first registrations and transfers of equity.
He started his career in September 2015 working for the family law firm in Brixham in which he built up a considerable client base. He qualified as a Licensed Conveyancer in February 2019.
In his spare time, he likes to play golf or paddleboard and is a big sports fan. He loves to travel and spend time at the family caravan in Cornwall in the spring/summer. He has two young daughters who keep him extremely busy!

Brian Maxwell is a Solicitor and works in the Property department at WBW Solicitors. He joined the firm in 2021 as part of a merger with Beviss & Beckingsale solicitors, with whom he had worked with since 2017. He is primarily based in the Chard office.
Brian has expertise in all aspects of agricultural, commercial and residential property. He has been instructed by district and town councils and major landowning estates. He has also assisted in the establishment of commercial and residential estates.
Brian has practised property law since qualifying as a solicitor in 1989. He was a Partner for 22 years and also Head of Commercial Property for 15 years at a Somerset law firm.
For several years, he was the company secretary of a housing association and for over 15 years was the company secretary of a company with a large, mixed property portfolio.
To relax away from work he makes the most of every opportunity to be outdoors by walking, running and cycling.

Carla Eagleson is a Chartered Legal Executive in the Property department at WBW Solicitors. She joined the firm in 2020 and is based in the Torquay office.
Carla specialises in residential conveyancing matters, including the sale and purchase of houses. She also has a lot of experience in other areas of property law, such as buy-to-let investments, shared ownership, staircasing, remortgages, transfer of equity, lease extensions, new build and auction purchases, first registrations, equity release, and commercial law.
Carla studied at Kingston College in Surrey and has a number of years' work experience in property law and qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive (FCILEx) in August 2018. She previously worked at another local law firm in Exeter before joining WBW Solicitors in January 2020. In addition to property law, she also studied Family Law and gained work experience in this area which can at times be useful in property law matters which involve matrimonial / separation aspects.
Carla enjoys problem-solving on complex matters and working in a fast-paced environment, ensuring to maintain a client-focused approach on delivering a high-quality service on what can be a very stressful process for many individuals.
