Joining the Club in December 2023, Abbie got her NPLQ at the start of 2023 after leaving school and has been competing in Lifesaving since the age of 10. Abbie recently competed for Team Scotland in Canada and has taken part in many competitions throughout the UK.
Alick joined the Duty Manager team in May 2022 from Edinburgh Leisure. With 5 years experience of in lifeguarding and swim teaching at a variety of pools throughout Edinburgh, he looks forward to getting to know all about Drumsheugh and its members.
Alistair has enjoyed being a member of the Club for 17 years and joined the Board in Aug 2024. Prior to his retirement, Alistair worked in the construction and oil industry, in many locations and cultures. Laterally, he was a business consultant facilitating major companies reorganise and resolve problems. He has replaced activities such as climbing and ski touring with golf and the Club's fitness classes.
After gaining her lifeguard qualification through her school sports committee, Ashley joined the Drumsheugh Baths Club team in August 2021 as a casual member of staff, and became a full-time lifeguard 3 months later. Ashley has previous experience lifeguarding in her local pool for adult and children's swim lessons and can also coach a variety of sports including handball, touch rugby, badminton, basketball and volleyball. Ashley has a friendly and outgoing nature and is always on hand to assist our members.
Carol and her family have been members of the club since 2013. Carol was a corporate lawyer in Glasgow and London. Having dedicated a considerable amount of her time to ensuring the smooth running and development of the Club, during the 3 years that Carol was a director, Carol was appointed Chair of the Board in February 2020.
Caroline joined the Board in November 2019. Caroline had a career as a commercial property solicitor and also has experience of not-for-profit organisations and her area of responsibility within the Board is legal matters.
Elspeth has been a distant member for many years, but she has now retired and returned to Edinburgh and joined the Board in Aug 2024. Her career was in Economic Development with Scottish Enterprise and as Head of Economic Development for Edinburgh. More recently, she held senior roles in two large charities.
Joe joined the Drumsheugh team in October 2018 after gaining his pool lifeguard qualification shortly after leaving school. A former swimmer at the national level he will be on hand to offer any swimming advice to members. Joe was promoted to Duty Manager in February 2022.
John has been a member of the Club since 2008. Following a career in banking and investment management businesses in the UK and Australia, John moved to Edinburgh in 2008 as Director of an investment management business. He is the Finance Director of the Club. In addition to swimming, John enjoys walking, travel and bridge.
Jorge started his career in the leisure industry in 2005 where he worked as a leisure attendant at a private holiday park. In the same year he joined Drumsheugh Baths Club as a casual member of staff before being given the opportunity to take on the role on a permanent basis.
Over time Jorge stepped in as relief Duty Manager to allow him to gain valuable knowledge of how the Club is run. In 2007, Jorge was appointed full-time Duty Manager, one of three, where his main role is to support the manager in the daily running of the Club.
Luke joined the team in September 2023 after completing his lifeguard qualification. Having previously worked for Ryanair as a flight attendant after leaving school, he enjoys keeping fit and plays for his local Sunday league football team, Midlothian Milan.
Paul joined the team in December 2017 as a Duty Manager, having previously worked as a personal trainer and Assistant Manager in a hotel lesiure pool. Paul was promoted to General Manager in April 2018 and enjoys spending time with his family and young daughter.
Robert has been a member of the Club for 15 years. As a retired Chartered Surveyor with experience in the care of historic buildings and former Depute Chairman of Lothian Valuation Appeals Committee, Robert will provide valuable knowledge and assistance to the Board in the care of the Drumsheugh building.
