James Wilson joined Exeter School as a physics teacher in 2007 and joined the senior leadership team in 2018.
After growing up in The Netherlands, Dr Wilson studied for an MPhys at Keble College, University of Oxford. He then spent time as an IT consultant in London before returning to Oxford to complete a DPhil in functional brain imaging. Moving into physics teaching at Barnard Castle School, he completed his GTP at the University of Sunderland before then moving to Devon and joining Exeter School.

Bethan joined Exeter School in September 2022. She completed her PGCE in Religious Studies and began teaching at Hinchley Wood School in Esher, Surrey. Alongside her teaching practice she completed an MA in Advanced Educational Practice at UCL.
In 2016 Bethan moved to Claremont Fan Court School where she was Head of Religion and Philosophy, ran the DofE award and coordinated the EPQ, alongside leading the school character quality programme. She became Head of Humanities Faculty in 2018 before moving to Exeter School in 2022.

Dan joined Exeter Pre-Prep School in September 2021, having previously held the roles of Deputy Headteacher at ACE Tiverton School and Head of Pre-Prep & Nursery at Manor House School in Surrey. Dan studied Education and English at Cambridge University and has been teaching for over seventeen years, working across all ages in seven different maintained and independent schools in Cambridgeshire, London, Surrey and Devon, including ten years in senior leadership roles.
As PSHE subject leader, Dan teaches every class, every week, as well as leading daily assemblies. He is both an Apple Teacher and a Microsoft Innovative Educator, in addition to being a founding member of the Chartered College of Teaching.
In his spare time Dan enjoys singing, running and walking Ruffles, the school dog.

Graham studied at the University of Exeter where he graduated with a BSc(Ed) in Physics with Education and QTS in 2000. He began his teaching career at Colyton Grammar School where he was also a head of house. Prior to becoming a Deputy Head at Exeter School he held the roles of Head of Physics, Director of Science, and New staff induction and PGCE coordinator.
Graham is an ISI Inspector and sat on the National Council, and the Education Committee for the Institute of Physics. This led to him presenting at, and leading several educational conferences. In addition, Graham is a published author having written several science textbooks at both GCSE and A Level.
With an active interest in sport and outdoor education, Graham is a qualified DOE assessor and previously served as an RAF Officer in the CCF for over a decade having been an Air Cadet himself when younger.

John began his teaching career as a class teacher at Newlands Prep School in Newcastle and then moved to Royal Grammar School in Newcastle to take up the position of head of English.
John moved a little further south in 2003 to become the head of English at Queen Elizabeth Grammar School in Wakefield. He joined Exeter Junior School in 2008 as the school's first deputy head, to support the head as the school was growing into the junior school it is today.

Luigi joined Exeter School in 2022 as Assistant Head (Sixth Form) from a large HMC school in Surrey where he was Assistant Head in charge of entry to the college.
Luigi studied French and Italian and then a PGCE at Bristol University. He has nearly 30 years' teaching experience in both maintained and independent schools with previous roles being assistant director of sixth form, boarding and day housemaster and admissions registrar.

Mike initially trained as an accountant and then as an intelligence analyst before moving into teaching. He spent seven years teaching at Beechen Cliff school in Bath where he was deputy head of sixth form, deputy head of house and then head of numeracy/associate assistant head.
In 2018 Mike moved to Devon to take on the role as director of maths at Exmouth Community College for three years. His roles at Exeter School have included deputy head of house, head of house (Goff) then Assistant Head (Middle School).
Outside of education Mike spent five years as a special constable for Avon and Somerset Police,is a rugby coach and has led numerous adventure trips both home and abroad.
Educated at Radley College and Bristol University, Miles qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte Haskins and Sells in London 1991. After a stint in their training department he worked in a variety of small and medium businesses in London and the South West, mainly in the technology and business services sectors.
Married to a teacher, Miles has been involved in the leadership and management of schools for many years. From 1999 to 2008 he was a Governor at his local primary school, for eight years of which he was Chair. He became Director of Finance at King's Schools in Taunton in 2009 and became Director of Finance and Operations there in September 2017, before taking up his current role as Bursar at Exeter School in January 2018. He was instrumental in setting up King's College, Doha in 2015 as well as being heavily involved with other overseas projects.
Miles is an ISI compliance team inspector and is on the board of the Independent Schools Bursars Association.

Liz joined Exeter School as Director of Admissions and Marketing in April 2020, moving from a similar role in a large sixth form college in Somerset.
Liz studied marketing and management and worked initially in FMCG marketing before moving to the education sector in 2008. Liz has a great deal of experience in marketing a school and recruiting pupils from both a domestic and overseas market. Liz has a particular interest in ensuring an Exeter School education is open to every pupil, regardless of their families personal circumstances.

Julia grew up in Bath and read Medieval and Modern Languages (German and Italian) at Trinity College, Cambridge. She spent her year abroad in Bologna, Italy which cemented her love of all things italian. Upon graduation, she worked as a journalist in London, before pursuing a Master's in English literature in Michigan, USA where she also taught undergraduate courses.
After returning to the UK, she completed a PGCE and was then delighted to accept a job teaching English at Exeter School. Passionate about the importance of effective pastoral care for the growth and wellbeing of pupils, she has worked as a deputy and head of house before taking on the role of Assistant Head (Lower School). She considers it a privilege to work with fantastic pupils and colleagues at Exeter School.
Saskia van Schalkwyk has been the Headmistress of Exeter Junior School since 2019. She is also an ISI inspector. Saskia joined the junior school from Granville School, a girl's school in Kent where she was Deputy Head.
Saskia was born and educated in Devon, attending West Buckland School before moving to Roehampton where she achieved a BA QTS in science, maths, and sports science. She was designated safeguarding lead and head of pastoral at St Michael's Preparatory School in Kent before moving to Granville School.
Returning to her Devon roots with her family, Saskia has two children who both attend Exeter School.

After reading Modern Languages and European Studies at the University of Bath, Ali spent some time working as a translator in Germany before returning to England and completing her PGCE. She began her teaching career at St. Edmund's College, Ware, and moved down to Devon in 2019. Ali teaches German and French and coaches the U13B netball team.
In her free time, Ali loves playing racquet sports, skiing, and travelling.

Louise is an environmental scientist who started working as a teacher in the biology department at Gresham's School in the early 90s. After almost 30 years in the independent sector in a wide range of day and boarding schools, she is now in her third headship. Prior to joining Exeter School, she was Head of a large GDST school in London followed by a large British international school in Brazil.
Louise has experience of board membership in the UK and international sector, serving both on the COBIS board and the LAHC (three years as the chair), as well as a prep school in Sussex and an HMC school in Oxfordshire. Now back home in the UK, she has a passion for developing character at Exeter School and enjoying the joys of Devon life.
