Alistair Grove

Alistair Grove attended Shrewsbury School and went on to study Economics at Cambridge. He had two gap years (pre and post University) working and travelling in North America and Africa before joining Coopers and Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers - ‘PwC') in Bristol in 1979. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 and spent 26 years with PwC (15 as a partner) working in their Bristol, Plymouth, Birmingham and London offices primarily dealing with the restructuring, trading and sale of businesses going through change. Also, he managed a Midlands and South West regional division of PwC (7 offices, 175 employees) from 1999 until 2005 when he retired. He has been a governor since 2013. He was a Kelly parent (Prep and Senior School) for 10 years and his interests include most sports (particularly cricket, rugby and golf), travel and financial and current affairs. Two black Labradors means a lot of walking on Dartmoor and in recent years he has walked the full length of Offa's Dyke and Hadrian's Wall with his eldest son. He is an ECB cricket coach and has managed Yelverton Colts sides for the last 8 years.

Amanda Le Page

Amanda Le Page is a Chartered Architect with specialist qualifications in architectural conservation and regeneration work. Her work includes large scale brownfield regeneration and consultancy. A director of Le Page Architects, she has worked with the public and private sector and for social enterprise organisations. She has been closely involved with a number of successful regeneration projects, including the role of lead heritage architect for the team that delivered the repair and conservation of the historic Royal William Yard in Plymouth. Amanda has lived and worked in the South West since 1987. Her son attended Kelly College until the sixth form. She was appointed a Governor in 2015.

Andrew Main

Andrew Main stepped down from being Managing Partner of the Fund Management Business, Stratton Street Capital, in 2014 having successfully developed the business from its inception in 2000 to managing and advising over £1 billion in Funds for Institutions. Most of Andrew's experience has been spent in the City dealing with The Far East, including being based in Japan for 5 years. He is a Lifetime member of the Japan Society and member of the Hong Kong Association in the UK. He now sits on a number of Fund Boards associated with the region and advises Fund Managers in the region and in the UK. He serves in various capacities the Alternative Investment Management Association being the Chair of their Next Generation Managers group, a founding member of their Sound Practices Group and Market Regulation Standing Committee. Through them he has helped publish their Sound Practices Guide for Fund Board Directors and detailed due diligence questionnaires for Directors. With his family he moved to the Tavistock area in 2015. He is a qualified Swimming Judge and has recently taken the para swimming course. He actively supports and develops the Officials team associated with Mount Kelly Swimming of which his daughter is a member. He has recently become a Trustee and Chairman designate of the recently formed Tavistock Heritage Trust.

David Parlby

David studied Economics and Statistics at the University of Bristol. He then taught English in Spain before working at Lloyds Bank, Standard Telephones and Cables and BP International. In 1982 he moved to KPMG Consulting where he was a partner at their London office for 8 years until 2002. During his time at KPMG he worked with the most senior levels of management at organisations such as National Power, British Rail, Debenhams, Pfizer, Boots, Unilever, Billiton and Vodafone in the UK, Europe and USA, helping them in areas such as business strategy, IT, finance, marketing, and HR. He moved to Devon from Surrey in 2003 where he became engaged in a variety of roles including consultancy in business strategy and head of the consortium which bought the Ring of Bells Inn in North Bovey, Moretonhampstead where he worked as, amongst other things, the chef. Until recently David was Chief Executive of the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce He is married to Geri, a lecturer in history of art, and is the proud father of Rebecca and Michael, both of whom spent very happy years at Kelly College. His personal interests include golf, cycling, classical guitar, Cordon Bleu cookery and reading.

Dr Michael Atkinson

Dr Michael Atkinson was educated at Stonyhurst College and read Classics at St. Johns College, Oxford, gaining his BA, MA and DPhil. During his career he was an Assistant Master and House Master at Eton College where he was Master-in-charge of the King's Scholarship Examination, rackets and squash. He was also the Chairman of Eton Action, the School's charitable organisation. He also spent time as House Master at Budhanilkantha School, Kathmandu. Michael was a Governor at Summer Fields Prep, Oxford until 2007 and is currently Chairman of both the Maristow Gardens Residents Association and the Plymouth Philharmonic Choir. In 2009, Dr Michael Atkinson was appointed by Pope Benedict XVI as a Knight of St. Gregory the Great.

Hilary Monk

She has been a local Magistrate for 20 years and has also been a member of Fitness to Practise committees for the General Pharmaceutical Council and the Nursing and Midwifery Council. Hilary was an active supporter of the school through the Friends of Kelly and her children's interests.

He is now senior partner of Metherell Gard, Chartered Accountants and currently a trustee of Broadreach House (drug and alcohol treatment services). He served as an independent County Councilor for Cornwall 1977-1985, where he sat on numerous local school governing bodies. He was a member of the Board of the S W Regional Health Authority between 1978-1984; a former Cornwall's County Treasurer of St John; and a former High Sheriff of Cornwall.

Julian Whiteley

Julian began his career as an engineer in the Royal Navy, subsequently obtaining a teaching qualification and moving into the independent education sector. He has more than 20 years' school leadership experience in the UK, South America and South East Asia. He was Head of Taunton School and, more recently, the CEO and Head of College at the United World College of South East Asia in Singapore, an international school with over 5,500 pupils. Julian now works as an education consultant and has been involved in the inspection and accreditation of schools, as well as the recruitment and coaching of senior leaders. He is also a partner in Thanyapura Health and Sports Resort, Asia's leading swimming and triathlon training centre. He is married with three daughters and lives in South Devon. He can invariably be found on the water, in the water or under the water such is his enjoyment of sailing, kayaking, swimming and scuba-diving.

Keith Hollinshead

Mr Greg King-Limb

Greg joined Mount Kelly in 2013 and has played an integral role in shaping the swimming programme, with a specific focus on nurturing the next generation of national and international swimmers coming up through the School. With over 10 years of coaching experience, he has coached multiple swimmers to international level as well as producing many national champions and guiding swimmers to break both long course and short course British records. Greg now works alongside Emma on our Elite squad where they work closely together to deliver world class coaching. Consequently, Greg has worked extensively within the Swim England Talent Pathway and most recently was selected as part of the GB coaching team for the 2022 European Junior Championships held in Romania. Greg also has a strong background in education and graduated from the University of St Mark and St John with a First-Class Honours Degree in B.Ed. Primary Education in June 2014, leading to Qualified Teacher Status (QTS). He therefore brings a very current knowledge and understanding of the educational system to the swimming programme at Mount Kelly and nutures and mentors swimmers across all aspects of school life. Greg became Assistant Director of Swimming in 2018. His performance coaching and teaching experience have instilled a strong belief in the holistic approach to every swimmer's development - a feature which is key to the ongoing success of Mount Kelly Swimming. Harry joined Mount Kelly in June 2020 from Abingdon, Oxfordshire, where he had spent the last three years coaching for Abingdon Vale Swimming Club, Abingdon School, St Helen & St Katharine and The Manor Preparatory School. During this time, Harry was Head of Performance Regional Development, working predominantly with county and regional level age group swimmers. He has spent a lot of time coaching a wide range of athletes, from 6 year old prep school swimmers to national finalists. Harry also has 13 years of competitive swimming experience behind him and whilst studying his BA Hons Photography Degree at Plymouth University (2014-2017), he represented Plymouth Leander at British National level. Under the coaching of Jon Rudd and Claudia Clements he achieved two national gold medals, one national silver medal and one national bronze medal in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke events as well as the 4x100m Medley Relay. During his time at Abingdon School, Harry developed a strong understanding of the private school work/life/training balance which swimmers need to be able to succeed in both academics and their performance swimming. Harry loves to work on the finer details and his coaching methods are extremely technical, focusing on drill work and refining stroke mechanics to achieve a strong foundation upon which to build. Jon came into performance swim coaching a little later in life than most, in 2009 having spent the previous 10 years in business management and coaching part time, when he joined Guildford City as the divisional head of Competitive Development. At the time this was a division of the club, where over the next 6 years it grew to three squads and placed swimmers into Regional Finals. Then in 2015 he took up the assistant head coaches role at Windsor Swimming Club, where for the first time he coached swimmers to multiple Regional and National Medals. In late 2016 he got the opportunity to move to the larger program at Rushmoor Royals where he spent the last 6 years developing performance age group athletes culminating in my first swimmer being selected for a junior GB team. Jon has an infectious passion for helping every athlete achieve their full potential. Jon is truly excited to be part of the Mount Kelly family, having admired its growing success over the years.

Josh joined Mount Kelly in September 2016 from Dinnaton Swimming Club where he worked as an Assistant swim coach and lead land training coach. Josh also worked at Sparkwell Primary School as a teaching assistant leading P.E across the school. In this time Josh worked with county, regional and national level swimmers both in the pool and in the gym; gaining an understanding and application for long term athletic development. Prior to this Josh graduated from the University of St Mark and St John in Applied Sport Science and Coaching which included a module in advanced strength and conditioning. He also took on volunteer work at Plymouth Argyle Football Club working with the academy teams in a sport science and strength and conditioning capacity. Josh has undertaking various roles since joining Mount Kelly having worked as Head of Prep Swimming for two seasons. Josh then worked closely alongside Emma for a season on the elite swimming squad coaching both on poolside and leading the strength and conditioning for the squad, working with national and international level swimmers. During this time, he has also worked for Swim England and was selected to coach the South West team at the ESSA Inter-Divisional Championships. His keen interest for nurturing athletes long term development and discovery of athletic narratives for all has led to his current role as Head of Athletic Development, overseeing provision of strength and Conditioning for the whole foundation in a range of sports, with his specialities in swimming football and Tae-Kwon-do. His Philosophy is very much centred around "better people make better athletes" with a strong underpinning of evidence-based training, aiming to create a dopamine rich environment for all to thrive. Neil joined Mount Kelly in April 2019 from Plymouth Leander Swimming Club, where he spent the previous 3 years of his career where he worked as Head of Junior Programmes and more recently, the Head of Regional and National Age Group. During this time Neil coached a wide range of swimmers across the junior set up and has helped many swimmers progress through County, Regional and National level. In 2016, during his first year, Neil helped guide the Plymouth Leander team to third place in the National Junior League final. Prior to this, Neil worked at Oldbury Swimming Club based in Birmingham from 2012-2016. Neil's coaching career started here at Oldbury, initially as an assistant coach, before adding the role of Junior squad coach. After 3 years in these two roles, Neil was appointed the clubs first ever full-time Head Coach in 2015. During his time at Oldbury, Neil helped the club progress to their best finish in Arena League and achieve their highest number of regional qualifiers. Neil's own swimming journey began in Bedfordshire, where he grew up, swimming for Modernian Swimming Club. After leaving swimming at the age of 18, Neil started to compete again in his mid-twenties, achieving regional times and winning medals at the British Swimming Masters Championships in 2018. Neil can now be found swimming regularly in open water training and events. Outside of the club environment Neil has previously been selected to the West Midlands coaching development programme, and has also worked extensively within the Swim England talent pathway at county, regional and national level. Aside from his swimming background, Neil has a strong experience of working in a school educational environment. In 2011 Neil completed a PGCE in Primary Education from Birmingham City University. Also, whilst coaching at Oldbury part time, Neil's full-time job was a sports coach responsible for swimming within a primary school. These two areas of Neil's development give him a strong grounding to join the Mount Kelly school environment and help benefit the welfare and wellbeing of all children. Rikki joined Mount Kelly in January 2021 from Team Luton Swimming Club where he worked as Head Coach for 3 years, leading and mentoring a growing coaching team, as well as guiding the club to promotion to the top division in the Junior League and narrowly missing out on the same achievement in the Arena League. Rikki also coached many swimmers to success from county all the way through to international level. Prior to this, Rikki started his coaching journey at City of Coventry where in 2011 he began coaching just 3 hours per week working with the junior groups of 7-10 year olds. In 2012 he was then assigned lead coach of the Senior Performance 2 squad (ages 12-15), which consisted of county and regional swimmers. After 2 years of coaching Senior Performance 2 Rikki had guided 5 swimmers to national level, an achievement that didn't go unnoticed, which lead to him being offered the Assistant Head Coach role and lead coach of Junior Elite (ages 11-15 Regional through to National). Over his 4-year period in this role Rikki saw many of his swimmers obtain great success at national level and move on to Senior Elite to develop further and have very successful swimming careers. Rikki also swam to a junior international level himself. He started his journey at Nuneaton and Bedworth Swimming Club in the Midlands at the age of 5. Rikki swam for Nuneaton and Bedworth from 1995-2006, and during that time he qualified for 10 events at summer nationals every year from the ages of 12-15, and also swam at his first Olympic and Commonwealth trials, before moving to City of Coventry in 2006. After the move to Coventry, Rikki developed his skills and became a more rounded athlete which lead to national and junior international success. He went on to win multiple medals at a national level, and made finals across 10 different events throughout his swimming career. Rikki also represented GB in a number of junior international events, most notably the Commonwealth Youth Games in India in 2008 where he competed in the 50m, 100m, and 200m Backstroke and the 100m Freestyle, making 2 finals, in the 100m Backstroke finishing 7th, and the 200m Backstroke finishing 5th. Rikki still loves to swim and has competed a number of times since stopping his full-time swim training back in 2014. In his spare time, he really enjoys a good walk/hike and exploring the outdoors. Emma joined Mount Kelly in 2012 having previously worked as Head Coach of Rushmoor Royals and Performance Coach at Millfield School. With 16 years of coaching experience, working with all age groups in a club and performance environment, we are very proud to have Emma lead our programme as Director of Swimming since 2018. A former GB swimmer herself, Emma is a passionate swimming lifer and after she gained her degree from Loughborough University in applied Sport Science, she retired from swimming, and picked up a stopwatch. This extensive experience has seen Emma mentor and coach multiple swimmers to the European Junior Championships, World Championships, Commonwealth and Olympic Games success. Most recently Olympic bronze medallist Federico Burdisso and in the Millfield days, Olympic Champion James Guy. A big believer in lifelong learning, Emma has seen great success being part of prestigious coach development programmes such as ‘UK Women into High Performance Coaching Programme' (UK Coaching), ‘Coach 2024' (Swim England) and more recently ‘Female Coaches and High-Performance Work Shadowing Programme' (UK Sport). As well as this she is regularly involved with governing bodies and was awarded ‘Swim England South West Coach of the Year 2019' and ‘UK Coaching Talent Development Coach of the Year 2020'. Emma's coaching philosophy very much integrates a swimmer first approach. Her passion for creating a world leading culture at Mount Kelly, involves a belief system that positively influences young swimmers' lives with hope to embed good values and life lessons, in turn helping to create the optimal experience for all. She believes that swimming is a true team sport and real success come when swimmers, parents and coaches work together in a performance partnership through collaboration, communication, co-operation and confidence. Niel is a Mount House old boy. His father and son also went to Mount House. He studied Mechanical Engineering at Bristol University and Petroleum Engineering at Heriot Watt University. He spent thirty-five years working with Schlumberger and Shell, mainly in the Middle and Far East. His most recent jobs were Development Manager in Syria and Head of Hydrocarbon Recovery Themes in Shell Central Offices, The Hague. He now lives locally but continues to carry out overseas consultancy work in the oil industry.

Rob Ormsby

Rob Ormsby attended Kelly College in the early 1970s. On leaving he joined the Dorset Police in 1975. He worked in various parts of this county until 1997, when he left to join the Regional Crime Squad. This organisation subsequently changed to the National Crime Squad (NCS), then the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) and finally the National Crime Agency (NCA). Within all of these agencies he worked as a senior officer investigating serious and organised crime, nationally and globally. In 2015 he retired and now works as a private consultant for various insurers and private clients. He continues to support one niche area of the NCA as a special advisor in a pro bono capacity. In 2019 he was awarded an OBE for his services to law enforcement. He also works in a voluntary capacity for a local charity the Brentor and Moor Compassionate Neighbours and lives locally.

Sara, born and brought up in Devon, is an experienced English teacher with also wide-ranging senior educational boarding management experience. She taught at Millfield School, Kelly College where she oversaw the move to full coeducation in 1987, and Sedbergh School where, as Senior Mistress, in 2000/2001 she masterminded the transformation of Sedbergh from a boys school since 1525 into a fully coeducational and thriving coeducational school. Whilst at Sedbergh she was a governor of two Prep Schools. Sara is currently a governor of the Dean Close Foundation of Schools and Nurseries in Cheltenham; a CIE IGCSE and A Level English Literature examiner; a tutor for GCSE, A Level, and UCAS advice; a Senior Academic Adviser for Sedbergh School International Limited. She is married to Christopher who was Headmaster of Kelly College from 1985-1995 before moving on to be Headmaster of Sedbergh from 1995-2010. They have 3 daughters all of whom were born during Christopher and Sara's time at Kelly.

Stu Anderson

A Management Consultant by trade, he has been involved in the world of entrepreneurship for most his career including running CSR programmes for corporates and extensive work with central and local Government on policy and delivery. Brought up in Tavistock, and after 20 years living in the North East currently lives in South East Cornwall where he was a Governor of a local primary school.
