Andrew Hext

New to Legal Practice management, my role is to support the Partners in the development and profitable management of the firm, focusing on the continuing improvement of our client experience and creating an environment where our team can be their best self's. I have 25 years of experience in retail, managing brands including TopShop, Mothercare and Burton Menswear. I have an in-depth knowledge of the management of people, operations and finances. Graduated with a Msc in management in 2005 possessing knowledge of both theory and practice within this area. I live in Cardiff with my wife, two children and dog. I enjoy spending time with the family, running and swimming

Becky Lane

"Becky attended Cardiff University to study Law and graduated in 2017 before returning to complete her Legal Practice Course in 2018. Becky joined the firm in May 2021 following the completion of her Training Contract at a local firm in Cwmbran. Becky now works within our Private Client department assisting clients in the preparation of Wills, Lasting Power of Attorneys and in Probate matters.

Beth Hughes

Beth attended the University of the West of England and graduated in 2015 before continuing her studies via CILEX. Beth joined the firm in January 2018, having previously worked for another firm in Cardiff specialising in Conveyancing. Beth acts for mainly residential clients and deals with all aspects of Conveyancing. Outside of work Beth enjoys walking her dog and socialising with friends and family.

Hannah J. Price

Hannah attended the University of Glamorgan and qualified as a solicitor in February 2012. She practises as a solicitor specialising in residential conveyancing and family law. Hannah has been working in the legal profession since early 2007, previously at another firm in Newport, and therefore the majority of her experience has been gained serving the people of Newport and the surrounding areas. Hannah carries out residential conveyancing on behalf of clients and mortgage lenders, in particular acting in sales, purchases, re-mortgages and transfers of equity, both in the local area and nationally.

Ian George

Ian joined Roger James, Clements and Partners as a trainee in August 1989 and he is now a partner in the Criminal Department representing Clients at the Police Station, Magistrates and Youth Courts.

John S. Clements

John hails from Newport and is well known in sporting and music circles in this city. He enjoys a wide diversity of interests and involvement in the community. He is approachable, competent and communicates well.

M. Roger James

Job Titles:

Local background, grammar school and Birmingham University, Ll.B. (Hons) Qualified in 1970; initially specialised in property work and crime; appeared in most Magistrates' and Crown Courts in South Wales. Appeared at European Court of Human Rights, Strasbourg; mentioned in case of Phillips -v- U.K.. Now practices in residential and commercial property, crime, wills and probate, civil matters, liquor and taxi licensing. Roger still practices in crime, taxi and liquor licensing but the bulk of his work is now in commercial property, wills and probate with some civil matters.

Mark Whitcutt

Job Titles:

Mark read law at Cardiff University, where he also obtained a research degree and undertook the Legal Practice Course. He subsequently practised as an Assistant Solicitor (litigation) at Edmunds and Trump Solicitors, before working as Director of Legal Services and Personnel at St. David's College, Cardiff. He was also seconded for two years to the Welsh Government advising on draft legislation. Mark now specialises in employment law and has been with the firm since 2011. He regularly conducts cases in the employment tribunal. He has considerable experience in HR issues having been a Director of HR in a large college. He also has expertise in general litigation and public law including Ombudsman complaints against public office holders and officials having worked in the public sector and civil service for a number of years.

Matthew S. Clements

Matthew joined the firm in 2002 after graduating with a degree in law. He qualified as a solicitor in 2005 and was made a partner in 2010. He mainly specialises in residential, commercial conveyancing and wills and probate but has gathered a wealth of knowledge in other areas of law during his time at the firm. He is also a keen rugby player and golfer and is affiliated to the local club Newport High School Old Boys but he would be the first to admit that his illustrious rugby career is coming to an end.
