Axel's interests include music and reading, and they have a strong passion for helping others. After graduation, they aspire to become a mental health counselor for people of color in their hometown of Chicago or to pursue a career in Human Resource Management.
Becca Owen (they/them) is a graduate student studying visual culture, queer theory, and disability studies in the departments of Art History and Gender and Women's Studies. Becca is an arts and culture worker who has curated exhibitions for galleries and museums in Wisconsin and their home state of Oregon. In addition to their work at the GSCC, Becca is a Mellon-Morgridge Fellow at the Constellations program and Researcher and Writer for the Division of the Arts. When they're not on campus, Becca enjoys cuddling with their dog Sunny, swimming, taking care of their garden, and camping.

Brent Plisch joined the UW-Madison Police Department in 2005 as a police officer, and has served in a variety of roles with the department. Prior to his appointment to Interim Chief in February 2024, Plisch served as the Assistant Chief for Administration and Support, with leadership oversight of emergency management, access control and video systems, human resources, finances, IT, and professional standards. Plisch has previously held roles as administrative captain, detective lieutenant and sergeant, patrol sergeant, Explosive Detection K9 handler, field training officer, bike officer, and patrol officer on all three patrol shifts.

Karla J. Strand is the Gender and Women's Studies Librarian for the University of Wisconsin System. Created in 1977, the GWS Librarian's Office is one of the premier resources for support of gender, women's, and LGBTQ studies scholarship and librarianship in the country. From a base at UW Madison's Memorial Library, Dr. Strand provides research and curriculum support, inter-institutional cooperation, information sharing, and advocacy related to the field of women's and gender studies, LGBT Studies, and to gender-focused scholarship in the traditional disciplines. Dedicated to using information and knowledge to serve women's development, Dr. Strand maintains office partnerships with organizations including the UW Women's Studies Consortium, Women's Knowledge International, 4W, and Wisconsin Public Television, among others. She oversees projects such as Wisconsin Women Making History and Women's Knowledge Digital Library. Strand holds a bachelor's in history and women's studies from Carroll College, a master's in library and information science from UW-Milwaukee, and a doctorate in information science from the University of Pretoria (South Africa). Her professional, research, and life interests are focused on the roles that libraries, information, and knowledge play in the empowerment of women and girls throughout the world.

Katherine Charek Briggs is the Assistant Director of the GSCC. Katherine has served on the board of the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals nationally and in Madison helps organize LGBT Books to Prisoners and the Wisconsin Transgender Health Coalition. Katherine is invested in information access and prison abolition and finds a center in working towards transformative relationships and liberatory community spaces.

Trisha works at College Library (sometimes referred to as HelenC) as a Late Evening Public Services Librarian, which basically means answering research questions until very late at night! Trisha buys books and other items for both the Gender & Women's Studies and Ethnic Studies collections and is the library liaison to the MSC, LGBTCC, and Open House: Gender Learning Community. Trisha co-chairs the College Library Improvement Committee and values diversity, inclusion, and working in an engaging and dynamic environment.
Trisha earned her MA in Library and Information Studies and BAs in Philosophy and Women's Studies from UW-Madison.
Warren Scherer (War) War previously worked at the UW-Milwaukee LGBT+ Resource Center and at Project Q, the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center's youth program. Per also served for four years on the board of the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals, including two as co-chair.
