Welcome to Sustainable Engine Systems (SES). We are a leading research and development company committed to the development of more efficient engines and heat exchangers. There are many aspects to what we do and who we are. We undertake collaborative ventures across a wide range of disciplines, creating projects which invest in the present and the future... The company was originally founded in 1992 to develop engines based on the Stirling cycle. The realisation that the high potential efficiency of Stirlings could only be achieved by developing heat exchangers with higher surface to volume ratios led to the adoption of new, patented designs, based on Selective Laser Melting (SLM). In turn, this work has led into new fields of development, including Brayton cycle engines.
