2byDesign is deliberately a small firm - two partners with the ability to add staff when the need arises. Our firm has a reputation for listening to the needs of the client and for fitting those needs into the overall budgetary, design, time, and space constraints. We excel at performing realistic analyses of our client's dreams, weighing those against our knowledge of building codes, construction costs, and timelines. Early in the process we invite the participation of contractors and engineers to keep expectations in line with reality. Our firm does not have a rigid 'style', believing that each project and client has unique attributes that need to be honored. Our focus is on interpreting the historical and local context of a building-to preserve original character whenever appropriate. We always suggest a number of possible design approaches from which the client can choose.
