Dr Anna Englin

Dr Anna Englin is a specialist Paediatric Anaesthetist who has worked with children for nearly twenty years. She is a qualified Medical Hypnotherapist, working with both children and adults in private practice as well as at the Royal Children's Hospital, for various issues including medical procedure related fears. She has an interest in improving communication in healthcare and is involved in teaching and research in this area. Background Dr Englin attended Monash University in Melbourne. Following some overseas work, she was accepted into the Alfred Hospital Anaesthesia Training Program. She completed a Paediatric Anaesthesia Fellowship at the Royal Children's Hospital and then worked as a Staff Anaesthetist at Monash Health for many years, where she specialised in Paediatric Anaesthesia.

Dr Gabriel Snyder

Gabe Snyder is Senior Staff Anaesthetist at St Vincent's Hospital. His regular practice includes anaesthesia for neurosurgery, thoracic surgery, upper gastrointestinal surgery and orthopaedics. He has a particular interest in obstetric anaesthesia and is on the Epworth Obstetric Anaesthesia Sub-Committee.

Dr Mark Cheung

Dr Mark Cheung completed his medical degree at The University of Melbourne. He was trained at Geelong, The Alfred, Austin, Mercy and Royal Children Hospitals for his anaesthetic qualification. He looks after both adult and paediatric patients. He has special interest in ENT, Neurosugery and Bariatric surgery. He has a public appointment as consultant anesthetist at Austin Health. He is actively involved in registrar training and he also participates in Continue Professional Development program with FANZCA.

Dr Mark Shulman

Dr Mark Shulman completed his medical training at Monash University and completed his anaesthetic training, including a fellowship in cardio-thoracic anaesthesia, at The Alfred Hospital in Melbourne. In addition to private practice, Mark currently works as a visiting anaesthetist at the Alfred hospital. His interests include trauma and orthopaedic anaesthesia, cardio-thoracic and vascular anaesthesia, obstetric anaesthesia and peri-operative medicine. In addition to clinical practice, Mark is actively involved in education for training anaesthetists at The Alfred. He is also interested in research and is currently enrolled in a Masters of Public Health at Monash University.

Dr Michelle Horne

Dr Horne is a specialist anaesthetist with both a public appointment and private practice. She is trained in a wide variety of clinical areas and the delivery of anaesthesia. Her undergraduate education was at Monash University in Melbourne, with Post-Graduate qualifications from both Melbourne University and the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. Dr Horne's anaesthetic training was completed here in Melbourne, based at Southern Health, with Fellowships at both St Vincent's Hospital and Melbourne's Royal Children's Hospital. Dr Horne has undertaken clinical work in the Northern Territory as well as voluntary placements overseas. Her clinical interests are varied, with a special interest in paediatrics. She has an ongoing commitment to Continuing Professional Development and medical education and is an active member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists.

Dr Peter Keogh

Dr Peter Keogh is a dual qualified Specialist Anaesthetist and Specialist Pain Medicine Physician. Peter's anaesthesia practice relates to all types of sedation and general anaesthesia and he has particular skills and interest in the use of regional anaesthesia and nerve blocks. Dr Reny Segal

Professor Reny Segal is a Specialist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and in private practice. Areas of sub-speciality interest include cardio-thoracic anaesthesia and trans-oesophageal echocardiography, advanced airway management and trauma, amongst others. Reny graduated from Cape Town, South Africa. Following training time in both intensive care and surgery, he specialised in Anaesthesia in Wellington, New Zealand. Reny went on to complete cardio-thoracic anaesthesia fellowships in both New Zealand and Papworth, Cambridge UK. For the [ast 15 years he has been a specialist at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and is the current head of cardio-thoracic anaesthesia. He is involved in airway management teaching at all levels, having established and run a number of national and international courses for both registrars and consultants. These include fibre-optic workshops, NATCAT, ANZSAC and some teaching collaborations. He is the co-founder of the Airway Management Special interest group and it's past chair. Reny is involved in Anaesthesia and Medical Advisory Board Committee work across a number of areas. He maintains an active research interest in the area of airway management, devices and teaching with upwards of 25 publications and is a Professor at the University of Melbourne.

Dr Robert Fabian

Dr Robert Fabian is a highly qualified Australian-trained specialist anaesthetist certified by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. After completing his medical degree at the prestigious Heinrich Heine Universität Düsseldorf (Germany) in 1992, Dr Fabian quickly developed a passion for anaesthesia and intensive care. He completed his specialist anaesthetist training in 2002 after working at several major centres including St George Hospital, Prince of Wales Hospital, and St Vincent's Hospital in Sydney. Dr Fabian is trained in providing hypnosis to minimise anxiety and discomfort before, during and after a procedure. He is also fluent in German, English and Italian languages.

Dr Sally Lacey

Dr Lacey completed her medical training with Honours from the University of Sydney. She spent two years working in anaesthetics in London before completing her specialist training here in Melbourne at St Vincent's Hospital. Since then, she has completed further post-graduate education including the Diploma of Pre-operative Echocardiography, and Graduate Diploma of Clinical Education through the University of Melbourne. She currently works at different public and private hospitals across Melbourne, including the Royal Melbourne and Royal Dental Hospitals. She regularly attends educational and quality assurance meetings and is actively involved in teaching and research, including being the HMO supervisor at St Vincent's Hospital for many years. Dr Lacey anaesthetises for a wide range of procedures including major trauma, paediatrics, maxillofacial, ophthalmology, general surgery, plastics, urology and day surgery. She is a member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists, the Australian Medical Association and is actively involved in continuing professional development. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her family and friends, and travelling.

Dr Stefan Sabato

Dr Sabato is a Melbourne trained anaesthetist with appointments at both the Alfred and Royal Children's Hospitals. He has a special interest in paediatric anaesthesia.

Dr Verna Aykanat

Dr Verna Aykanat is a specialist anaesthetist with a busy private practice in Melbourne. She undertook her specialist training at St Vincent's Hospital in Melbourne, with subsequent fellowships at the Austin, Royal Perth and Alfred Hospitals. Verna provides anaesthesia for a wide range of surgical specialties, with special interests in major abdominal surgery, including hepatobiliary and robotic surgery, and cancer reconstruction. In addition to her clinical work, Verna has undertaken research and clinical trials to improve patient care and outcomes during and after major surgery and was awarded the prestigious Gilbert Brown Prize by the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists. She provides postgraduate teaching on difficult airway management, is an active member of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists and recently completed a Master of Public Health at Monash University.

Dr. Balan Sivasubramaniam

Dr. Balan Sivasubramaniam is an experienced anaesthetic consultant with expertise in regional anaesthesia, perioperative echocardiography and quality improvement in medical services. Born in Sri Lanka, Balan studied Medicine at the University of Queensland before undertaking anaesthesia training in Australia and New Zealand. Balan consolidated his skills in specialist training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he gained a wealth of experience working with complex medical cases. For the past 12 years Balan has been a full-time staff anaesthetist at Box Hill Hospital, making significant contributions to the hospital's anaesthetic services in the clinical and education areas. He also serves as an instructor for the Australian Resuscitation Council. Balan has a broad scope of practice, ranging from paediatric to adult patients across a range of specialties. He is also highly committed to patient care and to ongoing professional development. In addition to his work at Box Hill Hospital, Balan is affiliated with several private and public hospitals and sits on several governance and clinical advisory committees.
