Amy Wagner

Coding and Documentation Consultant - From 2003-2007 Amy served as Adjunct Faculty with Thomas Jefferson University for their undergraduate course in the College of Health Professions: Personal health and Wellness and currently is the Billing Office Manager and Medical Coder for local health care providers in the Medina-Cuyahoga County region of Ohio. She joined the AIHC professional team in 2019. Amy is a Certified Professional Coder (CPC); Certified ICD-10-CM Trainer (ICDCT-CM); and Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHA) and earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Brian Freedman

Online Course Consultant - With over 20 years working in IT and Information Assurance, Mr. Freedman has hands-on experience with the public, private, and government sectors of healthcare networks and systems. Working with both covered entities and business associates, he has conducted HIPAA Security Risk Assessments and taught others how to perform them. He was formerly the CIO and Information Technology Director at a large independent medical practice, has served as a HIPAA Compliance Officer, and managed a team of IT specialists in support of electronic medical records and practice management systems. Mr. Freedman earned his Masters of Science in Information Systems through Strayer University and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from The University of Miami with a double-major in Speech Communications and History. He has co-authored a book on PCI Compliance and is the Technical Editor of a handbook on IT Regulatory and Standards Compliance. Mr. Freedman also holds some of the leading industry certifications from Microsoft and Cisco and is also a CISSP and PMP. Mr. Freedman is a Certified HIPAA Compliance Officer (CHCO) through the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance, where he serves as an Online Course Manager for the HIPAA Privacy & Security Program.

Carl Byron

Auditing and Compliance Consultant - With approximately 30 years of clinical, coding and auditing experience in health care, Carl shares his expertise to enhance AIHC courses and training programs. His expertise includes medical record and claims audits, winning difficult appeal cases and training providers to improve clinical documentation. His experience includes conducting Risk Adjustment audits for CMS, working as a consultant, coding and auditing for a large world-wide medical center and currently serves our military as a medical auditor contracted with the United States government.

Dr. Lilian Alevato

Dr. Lilian Alevato brings over 30 years experience as a healthcare provider in the fields of Compliance, Quality, Utilization Management, Case Management, and Population Health. She was a Hospital Director leading a group of over 80 physicians in Rio de Janeiro for 12 years until she moved to the U.S.A. to continue her career in Managed Care Administration. Dr. Alevato completed her Master's in Business Healthcare Administration at COPPEAD/John Hopkins School of Medicine and soon after began working in auditing and compliance programs for large physician groups in Florida. Dr. Alevato holds several certifications with the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) and other organizations, such as: Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHA), Officer of Healthcare Compliance Certified (OHCC), Certified Case Manager, and Certified Content Expert. In the past 18 years working in the Managed Care field, she has held several leadership positions such as Chief Medical Officer, Chief Quality Officer, Compliance Officer, and Chief Operations Officer. She is proud to disclose that she helped over 40 practices transform to become Patient Centered Medical Homes recognized by NCQA. Dr. Alevato is currently the Chief Quality and Compliance Officer for one of the largest hospital groups in Central Florida.

Gabriella Neff

Ms. Neff brings over 21+ years of healthcare experience with a comprehensive background in coding, revenue cycle, and regulatory compliance. Ms. Neff earned her Associate in Applied Science degree in Health Information Management (HIM) through Stark State University and her Bachelor of Science degree in HIM from the University of Cincinnati. She holds multiple certifications through the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) and other organizations, including: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHA), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Certified in Healthcare Research Compliance (CHRC), Certified HIPAA Compliance Officer (CHCO), Certified in Healthcare Privacy Compliance (CHPC) and Certified as an Internal Forensic Healthcare Auditor (CIFHA) . Currently, Ms. Neff is a Research Compliance Officer for H. Lee Moffit Cancer Center and also serves as the Compliance Department Liaison to all research operations personnel, leadership, and partnering compliance professionals at the University of South Florida.

Heather Skelton

Ms. Skelton focuses her boutique law practice in health care law specializing in medical office compliance, practice management and representing physicians and specializing in managed care contracting. Her contributions as a Board Member relate to regulatory compliance oversight of our distance learning programs. Her expertise includes healthcare regulations, employment law, and business law, including partnerships and dissolutions. Heather graduated with honors from Tulane Law School and the University of Chapel Hill with a degree in business. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, and the North Carolina Society of Healthcare Attorneys.

Karri Roskam

Ms. Roskam brings over two decades of multi-practice and Revenue Cycle Management experience to the Board of Directors for the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC). Her expertise in Billing, Corporate Compliance, Auditing, Collections, Practice Administration and Consulting, enhances her ability to contribute as an active member on the Board. Karri is a member of the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC). She has served as a former facilitator to many of AIHC's Classroom training programs and has provided support and guidance to many AIHC students over the years.

Katie Reid

Camp Instructor and Facilitator and Course Consultant & Advisor - Katie Reid is vice president of the advisory services practice at Kraft Healthcare Consulting, LLC, an affiliate of KraftCPAs PLLC. She oversees reimbursement and operations services, including the review and preparation of Medicare and Medicaid cost reports and other third-party reimbursement opportunities. Katie works with a variety of clients, including medical/surgical, psychiatric, rehabilitation, and long-term acute care hospitals. Additionally, she works with skilled nursing facilities, rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers, hospice and home health agencies, and end-stage renal dialysis and other multi-specialty physician practices.

Mary T. Sullivan

Ms. Sullivan is an attorney licensed in New York and Texas who is presently of counsel to McCue-Pauley & Associates, P.C in Dallas, Texas. She graduated summa cum laude from the State University of New York College at Buffalo in 1981 with a B.S. in education and received her J.D. in 1984 from the State University of New York at Buffalo Law School. Before relocating to Texas in 2000, Mary practiced in Buffalo, New York for 15 years, where she handled personal injury actions for plaintiffs, as well as family law and criminal matters. Mary has practiced in the areas of medical and legal malpractice defense and health care law as well as practice criminal defense, and has represented physicians and other health care providers charged with Medicare/Medicaid fraud. Mary is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Western District of New York, and for the Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. She is a member of the New York State Bar Association and the State Bar of Texas. In 2003 and 2004, she was recognized by the Dallas Bar Association as an Outstanding Volunteer for her work in the East and West Legal Clinics, and was featured as one of the "Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program's Finest" in the May 2004 issue of Headnotes, a publication of the Dallas Bar Association.

Roberto Paolo Colon-Torres

Roberto Paolo Colon-Torres holds a degree in Health Law from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and is a Certified HIPAA Compliance Officer (CHCO) as well as a Certified Healthcare Auditor (CHA) through the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance. Roberto has been in healthcare for over 25 years and is the current Chief Compliance Officer for San Ysidro Health in San Diego, California. Roberto began his career in healthcare as a First Responder in Oakland, California and has worked for several FQHCs in the State of California. Roberto enjoys bike riding, working out, eating Mexican, Puerto Rican, Italian foods, and weekends at the beach.

Ronda K. Ash

Online Course Consultant - Ronda brings more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Ronda is an experienced leader with a strong belief in transparency and partnership. Ronda's work involves third-party reimbursement, operations, merger and acquisition coding, and documentation reviews, as well as assisting clients in general compliance issues throughout the United States. Additionally, Ronda provides expert reports and testimony for healthcare-related litigation engagements. Ronda has worked in nearly every medical specialty throughout her career, with both private and hospital-based physicians, delivering holistic coding and management solutions, and her client base includes law firms, physician practices, revenue cycle organizations, and capital investment firms. She is also the National Director of Coding, Documentation, and Education at AdvantEdge Healthcare.

Scott Mertie

Camp Instructor and Facilitator and Course Consultant & Advisor - Scott Mertie leads Kraft Healthcare Consulting, LLC, an affiliate of KraftCPAs PLLC. With more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry, Scott consults on various areas involving third-party reimbursement, operations, and compliance for clients throughout the United States. Additionally, Scott provides expert reports and testimony for healthcare-related litigation engagements. His clients include hospitals, long-term care facilities, physicians, and other providers, as well as law firms. Scott is an instructor with the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance to develop and teach the Medicare/Medicaid cost reporting boot camp to train individuals who assist with cost report preparation. His previous experience includes working for a Nashville-based hospital management company, a Nashville hospital system, and other CPA firms.

Stephen J. Sugrue

Stephen Sugrue serves as DocGo's Chief Compliance Officer and is responsible for oversight of the Compliance and Ethics functions throughout the company. Before joining DocGo, he served for more than 15 years as Compliance Officer and Compliance Counsel for large NY health systems. He spent time at healthcare litigation firms and in the Office of the NYS Attorney General. He also has a clinical background. He has worked as an EMT, Paramedic, and Director of Operations for a large ambulance company and worked as a critical care RN in the hospital setting. Stephen has a Juris Doctor and undergraduate degrees in Healthcare & Legal Studies and Nursing. He is a licensed RN and maintains a Board Certification in Emergency Nursing. He is a certified ambulance coder and a certified ambulance compliance officer. Stephen is a volunteer firefighter & EMT/Paramedic in his local community.
