Although most (electronic) analog computers work with (quasi) continuous values (voltages in most cases), this is not a necessary condition for an analog computer. What makes an analog computer an analog computer is the fact that it resembles a model (an analog) for the problem to be solved with its help (in fact there were quite some digital implementations of analog computers, so called Digital Differential Analyzers, DDAs for short)...
