Mr D.W.(Wal) Charles was invited to present an industry marketing paper to the Annual General Meeting of the Angora Breed Society (A.B.S)of Australia in Melbourne on the 12th November 1976 discussing ways that the industry could better improve the marketing of Australian Mohair. At that time major wool brokering firms were generally controlling the marketing of mohair. It was decided to form a body in Region 5 (Riverina) of the A.B.S. that would represent the producers in the marketing of their fibre. This body proceeded to gather a sizeable quantity of mohair for sale. The marketing system employed was based on the wool market's bulk classing system.
