James Binkley is living proof.
For 25 years, Binkley worked a handful of random jobs that he could never have known would each be a stepping stone, a chance to gather knowledge and experience, until his journey finally led him to Texas where he founded Binary Automotive Solutions in 2005.
Born in Romulus, MI, the second youngest child of 10 total, Binkley learned an incredible work ethic from his father, who had quit school in the fifth grade to work the family farm. After being injured on a construction job, his Dad was forced to change careers, and began driving a cab.
Binkley helped his father with body work and painting, fostering a deep love of cars that carried over from high school where he ran the auto repair shop and studied small engine repair.
His first dealership job came during summer breaks from school. Before long, Binkley was named Service Manager. He treated customers the way he expected to be treated, fairly and with respect.
"I would only recommend things they needed, and if I'm going to sell them something, I'm going to take care of their primary need. When you're on a tight budget, you don't want to be taken advantage of." Binkley got his first real taste of the industry with Ford Motor Co. He rose quickly through the dealership ranks. But the job did more than expand his resume, it offered a peek behind the curtain at how dealerships ran, and what dealership owners didn't fully understand.

Owain Stevens has only worked for Binary Automotive Solutions since 2010, but his friendship with owner James Binkley began 14 years earlier, when both men worked for Pat Ryan and Associates.
That friendship, and his appreciation and respect for Binkley's automotive acumen, paved the way for Stevens to join the Binary Automotive Solutions team as Field Operations and Sales Manager.
"I don't think there's anyone else out there with the host of programs and the ability to tailor make the programs to a dealer's individual needs," says Stevens, whose grandfather was a steam engine engineer and his father and mother both worked for General Motors in the United Kingdom. Stevens got his start in the industry at 16.
"I've worked on motorcycles, cars, trucks, boats. Pretty much anything with wheels, I've had a hand in it somewhere along the line," he says. "At the end of the day, I'm a car guy. That's all I've ever known. It's all I will ever know. It's all I want to do."
Stevens, who hails from England, but has called the United States home since 1994, is responsible for servicing all of Binary Automotive Solutions' accounts, working with sales agents to sign up new dealerships and helping promote the various programs that Binkley has designed.

Todd Roth has been an integral part of the Binary Automotive Solutions team since 2012, coming from a 20-year stint as a top producer in several finance offices for dealerships in the mid-west. In total, Todd has been involved in the retail automotive industry for nearly three decades. During that time, he was one of five national sales trainers helping guide dealers and lenders through the benefits and usage of Lease Link.
As Vice President of Implementation and Training, Todd is tasked with making sure that Binary's warranty program installs go off without a hitch. He leads the physical set up of the launch overseeing an installation team and providing training to finance departments on how to get the most value out of their customized warranty program.
Todd is on the front lines, traveling back and forth across the country to make sure Binary clients are delighted with the entire process of launching their warranty program. Although, Todd is senior management, he never hesitates to get out on the lot to help badge vehicles if that's what it takes to get the job done and the dealership's expectations are exceeded.
While Todd doesn't see a lot of downtime, when he does, he enjoys watching open-wheel auto racing including Formula One and IndyCar.
Troy Scheer champions all functional aspects of marketing for Binary Automotive Solutions, which includes marketing and brand strategies, providing graphic and web design leadership, digital marketing, video production, audio production, photography, and public relations. Troy focuses on ensuring that the marketing and sales teams have the right strategic messaging, information, tools, and training to successfully execute on strategic plans.
With nearly 25 years in the marketing field, Troy is a dynamic, competitive marketing leader equipped with vision. His previous role as founder of two different marketing firms highlighted his extensive track record of leadership and proven results with local, national and international brands. He offers a demonstrated ability to create and implement innovative strategies for digital marketing, branding, advertising, channel marketing, and public relations.
Troy is married with two high school aged children and two great four-legged family members (an Akita and Rat Terrier). Outside of work he enjoys coaching youth football, watching his daughter perform as a Marcus Marquette, taking in the outdoors and going to concerts with his wife.
