André Bussières

André Bussières is an assistant professor at McGill's School of Physical and Occupational Therapy and cross appointed with the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. He is also a professor at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Département Chiropratique. Dr. Bussières received his BSc in Nursing at Université de Montréal, his DC at Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College, MSc in Kinesiology at Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières and his PhD in Population Health a University of Ottawa. Dr. Bussières' research focuses on clinical practice guideline development and uptake to improve process of care and patient outcome, knowledge synthesis, implementation research and professional behaviour change, and musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Albert Yee

Dr. Albert Yee is an orthopaedic surgeon who specializes in spine surgery. He graduated from the University of Toronto Medical School in 1992 and completed his orthopaedic surgical residency at the University of Toronto in 1999 where he received the RI Harris Postgraduate Award. He received his Masters of Science with the University of Toronto in 1996 and has been practicing in Toronto since 2001 where he is currently a Full Professor in the Department of Surgery, and Co-Director of the University of Toronto Department of Surgery Spine Program. He is Holland MSK Program Chief, and Marvin Tile Chair in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre. He is an Associate Scientist in the Physical Sciences Platform, Sunnybrook Research Institute and holds a number of positions on research committees. Dr. Yee's laboratory focuses on translational spine and orthopaedic research, being funded through sources including CIHR, NASS, OCE, MaRS, OICR, and the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. Dr. Yee has been the Canadian Representative for the Course Executive of the Young Investigators Initiative (YII, Bone and Joint Initiative, Bone and Joint Canada) grant mentoring and career development program since 2013, facilitating mentorship for young investigators interested in musculoskeletal diseases. He is currently the President (2016/17) of the Canadian Orthopaedic Research Society and is the secretary/treasurer designate of the Canadian Spine Society.

Dr. David Puskas

Dr. David Puskas completed his Orthopaedic specialty training at Uof T with concurrent fellowship training in adult trauma, acetabular reconstruction, lower limb arthroplasty and reconstructive surgery of the spine with particular emphasis on complex metastatic spinal disease. Dr. Puskas has been the Chief of Orthopaedics at Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre since 2005, as well as Trauma Team Leader since 2000. Dr. Puskas is an assistant professor and program director for Post Graduate Training in Orthopaedic Surgery at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. He is also a member of the Orthopaedic Surgery Specialty Committee and Examinations Committee with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Puskas has been the recent recipient of numerous prestigious awards including the Order of St. Lazarus and the Afghanistan Star for Military Service in the Afghanistan Theatre of War. He also received the Canadian General Service Medal for service in support of the Canadian Military in Afghanistan having completed three tours at MMU Afghanistan in 2007, 2008 and 2010.

Dr. James Waddell

Dr. James Waddell was born in Alberta and graduated from the University of Alberta Medical School in 1967. He did his postgraduate training in orthopaedic surgery at the University of Toronto and assumed a staff position at St. Michael's Hospital in 1973. He has occupied a number of positions at St. Michael's Hospital including Surgeon-in-Chief and Medical Director of the Trauma Program; he completed 10 years as the Professor & Chairman, Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at University of Toronto in June of 2006. He has also occupied a number of positions in the Canadian Orthopaedic Association including President. He has completed a 10 year term as the Co-Editor of the Canadian Journal of Surgery. He is currently the Chair of the Expert Panel for Orthopaedic Surgery for Health Quality Ontario. He also is the Co-Chair of the National Hip and Knee Knowledge Translation Network and the Board Chair for the Canadian Orthopaedic Foundation.

Dr. Lauren Beaupre

Dr. Lauren Beaupre is a physical therapist and epidemiologist who is a professor and Dr. David Magee Endowed Chair in Musculoskeletal Research in the Department of Physical Therapy at the University of Alberta. She also holds a joint appointment in the Division of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Alberta. Her research interests are in outcome and health services research for people who live with musculoskeletal conditions and are recovering from orthopaedic surgery. Dr. Beaupre leads the Collaborative Orthopaedic REsearch (CORe) group at the University, which is a multidisciplinary research unit. She is also Faculty on the Young Investigators Initiative sponsored by Bone and Joint Canada and the US Bone and Joint Initiative that aims to mentor young musculoskeletal scientists to further their research careers. Dr. Beaupre has published extensively in the areas of hip fracture recovery and secondary fracture prevention, total joint arthroplasty surgery and rehabilitation, and upper extremity research. She is also interested in Implementation Science Research and has worked closely with the Alberta Bone and Joint Strategic Clinical Network to implement and evaluate provincial bone health programs to improve secondary fracture prevention. Dr. Beaupre is the current President of the Fragility Fracture Network (FFN) which is an international organization that has a mandate to improve the lives for people with fragility fracture around the world. Dr. Beaupre is the first Canadian and physical therapist to hold this role. The FFN seeks to improve care of people experiencing a fragility fracture anywhere in the world, including preventing the next fracture.

Janie Astephen Wilson

Janie Astephen Wilson earned a B.Sc.E from Queen's University, Ontario. Her interest in applying these disciplines to human health led her to Dalhousie University, where she completed an M.Sc. and PhD in the School of Biomedical Engineering. She worked as a research engineer for the Institute of Biomechanics and Surgical Design at the University of Bern, Switzerland, and has pursued a postdoctoral fellowship in medical imaging at the University of Cape Town, South Africa. Dr. Astephen Wilson returned to Dalhousie in 2008 to accept a faculty position in the School of Biomedical Engineering. She is shedding light on the complex biomechanical factors that initiate and maintain the gradual destruction of cartilage in the knee, leading to increasingly painful osteoarthritis. Dr. Astephen Wilson is involved in nationally and locally-funded team projects with physiotherapy professor Dr. Cheryl Kozey and orthopaedic surgeons, Drs. Michael Dunbar and Bill Stanish.

Rhona McGlasson

Rhona McGlasson has held leadership positions at Bone and Joint Canada since 2006 where she first worked as a Clinical Director and then took over as Executive Director in 2011. Under her leadership Bone and Joint Canada has been successful in building the knowledge translation network for orthopaedic care across the country including the development and implementation of the National Toolkits for hip and knee replacement and hip fracture. She was previously the Executive Director for the Bone and Joint Health Network, a Knowledge Translation Network for Orthopaedics in Ontario from 2006 - 2011. In this role Rhona was involved in implementation of best practices in orthopaedic care across the province including the development of a data reporting system to improve system performance at a provincial level and the identification of best practices to provide a framework to decision making on funding. Rhona has her own consultancy company McGlasson Consulting completing consultancy projects across the country in system design for musculoskeletal condition. She received her physiotherapy degree from the University of Greenwich, London and her M.B.A from Edinburgh Business School.

Todd Charlebois

Todd brings decades of management and leadership experience - in both the private and public sectors - to his role as CEO. His career highlights include senior roles in marketing, planning, and technology for not-for-profit organizations across North America. For many years, Todd has worked with the Canadian Orthopaedic Association; most recently, he supported fundraising efforts for the ICORS 2019 conference in Montreal.
