Alex was working on his Ph.D. in Computer Science during his time at CAIDA, UC San Diego. His interests lie at the intersection of computer network measurements, cybersecurity and technology policy. In particular, his dissertation studies the networking ports of entry for international Internet traffic flowing towards entire countries. See also Alex's homepage.
Background
In 2019 Alex was a Security Software Eng. Intern at Akamai working on detection of data exfiltration requests (to prevent data leakage), supervised by Dr. Moritz Steiner. Alex has also served as an anonymous reviewer for refereed publications SIGCOMM CCR and Performance Evaluation. Previously, Alex got an M.Sc. in Technology and Policy from MIT, and an Electronic Engineer degree (Cum Laude) from U. Simón Bolívar in Caracas, Venezuela, where he was born and raised. He spent a year, and wrote his engineering thesis, at Lund U. in Sweden. Awarded the MSR dissertation grant in 2019, he received his Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from UC San Diego. In 2021, he left CAIDA to become a Faculty Fellow at Northeastern University.

Emeline Marechal is a PhD student who joined CAIDA in June 2022 for a 6 months internship. Her research interests are in network measurements, including traffic and topology measurements, and measurement applied to security.
Background
Emeline Marechal received her MS degree in Computer Engineering from the Université de Liège (Belgium) in 2019. She is currently a Ph.D. student at the Montefiore Institute at the Université de Liège.
Emeline was with CAIDA until December 2022.

Background
Jennifer started as an REU Website Administrator's Assistant under Alex Ma, and joined as a UX Designer after completing her undergraduate degree in Cognitive Science with a HCI Specialization at UC San Diego.
Jon Weber joined CAIDA in 2019, serving as a UI/UX Designer and Developer, working on the Resource Catalog and the IODA project.
Josh Polterock served as Manager of Scientific Projects for CAIDA. He helps manage, mentor, and organize CAIDA's group of researchers, programmers, system administrators, webmasters, undergraduate and graduate student interns on a diverse set of projects.

Matthew is the author of scamper, a packet-prober used in the Ark project at CAIDA and Dyn Research to collect IP-level Internet topology data. See also Matthew's homepage.
Background
Matthew Luckie is an associate professor in the Computer Science department at Waikato. Prior to that, he was a senior lecturer (2015-2019) at Waikato, a research scientist (2014-2015) and a postdoc (2012-2014) at CAIDA, UC San Diego, and a lecturer (2006-2010) / senior lecturer (2011) at the University of Waikato.
Max joined CAIDA in 2022 as a graduate student at UC San Diego in the CSE department, working on independent study deriving insights from network traffic on the UC San Diego Network Telescope. Since completing his master's, he currently works with network telescope data and is generally interested in large-scale statistical analysis of noisy network measurement data.
Mingwei is an Internet data scientist, working on the development of various BGP related projects such as BGPStream and BGP hijacks detection and remediation. See also Mingwei's homepage.
