Mr. Abdul Halim is working in CEGIS since 2015 as a soil scientist and agriculturist. His main task is to work in a multidisciplinary team for conducting IEE and EIA studies of various development projects. As an EIA team member, his major working areas are EIA data collection, report preparation, and associated mathematical analysis. Concept paper writing for new projects for the agriculture division. Ms. Tasnim has joined the Climate Change and Disaster Management Division of CEGIS on April 21, 2021 as a Research Consultant. She has done her undergraduate thesis on "Flood Inundation Mapping of the Habiganj Sadar Upazilla using HEC-RAS 1D/2D Coupled Model". She has used HEC-RAS version 5.0.7 to set up the 1D and 2D models of the study area in order to develop flood inundation maps in terms of flood depth and flood velocity. She has experience working on ArcMap and Microsoft Excel to calculate the erosion and accretion on the banks of the Teesta River before and after the construction of the Teesta Barrage.

He was also involved in National Minor Irrigation Project of the Ministry of Agriculture and worked as a Mid-Level Engineer/GIS Analyst/Specialist for sustainable agricultural development through efficient minor water management for the country.
Mr. Sarker working at CEGIS since 1998. He also working with WARPO for the last 25 years on different projects including the NWRD preparation and updating. He has a very good communication network with different government and development agencies at national and international level such as DFID, UNDP, UNICEF, WFP, FAO, ADB, WB, ICIMOD, the European Union, the Norway Embassy, and the Netherlands Embassy, and for government agencies like BWDB, CWASA, WARPO, BARC, BADC, BRRI, BARI, DPHE, DOE, DLS, DAE, BMD, BSCIC, SRDI, Department of Fisheries, Department of Forest, IPHN etc.
Mr. Sarker also worked on several milestone international collaborative projects with Bhutan, Nepal, Pakistan, India, Thailand, and Norway. He is also a Senior Research Fellow of Dr. Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Trieste, Italy. Mr. Ahmmed Zulfiqar Rahaman is working as a Junior Specialist in the Climate Change and Disaster Management Division of the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS). He has more than 9 years of experience in the field of water resources engineering, climate change, disaster risk reduction, and spatial planning. Currently, he is working as a Project Leader for the Formulation of the National Adaptation Plan (NAP) in Bangladesh, which is a Green Climate Fund (GCF) project, and as a Research Coordinator for City Level Climate Vulnerabilities and Climate Resilient Infrastructure Assessment in Bangladesh under Livelihoods Improvement for Urban Poor Communities (LIUPC) project. He is also involved as a Disaster Risk Management Expert in Digital Risk Information Portal Development for Bangladesh.
As a hydrologist and climate change specialist by training, he was simultaneously involved in numerous studies at home and abroad relevant to climate change adaptation, risk, vulnerabilities and impact assessment, climate modeling (downscaling), climate change mitigation, flood risk management, disaster risk reduction, development and spatial planning, SDGs, GIS, hydrologic and hydrodynamic modeling. He has very special skills on climate data downscaling, climate risk and vulnerability assessment at regional, national, and city levels. He has extensive experience in using different mathematical modeling tools i.e., SOBEK, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, CHE2D, Delft3D, SWAT, SWMM, SDSM, ModFlow, DSSAT, ArcGIS etc to aid climate risk-informed planning and design.
He has been engaged in more than 40 projects so far to give his expert input in numerous areas of interest with multi-tasking capability. He developed a Statistical Downscaling Model for climate scenario generation (temperature and precipitation projections) covering the whole of Bangladesh for both AR4 and AR5 scenarios. He was involved in flood hydrology study for Dhaka city (western part) and future water availability assessment for GBM basins under climate change condition. He was engaged in urban drainage modeling for different parts of Dhaka city. He was actively involved in the preparation of action plan for agriculture in Bangladesh under climate change and sector action plan for the environment and climate change in Bangladesh. He was engaged in formulating the vision document Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100, while concepts of goals and strategies were devised. Further, he is actively involved in the update of climate change scenarios with dynamically downscaled climate data for supporting the implementation of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100. He worked a long time in impact assessment on haor ecosystem and formulating environment-friendly solutions for flood risk mitigation.
As an international expert, Mr. Rahaman led the preparation of the integrated stormwater management plan for Thimphu City of Bhutan through comprehensive stormwater modeling and formulation of Low Impact Development (LID) measures. Further, he worked in formulating climate resilient flood mitigation measures through hydrological and hydrodynamic modeling for SheteKheri and Aiepoly Streams of Gelephu of Southern Bhutan and climate scenario generation for flood management of Paro valley.
He has worked with various national and international organizations, development partners, NGOs and INGOs like UNDP, GIZ, ADB, World Bank, IMC Worldwide, ICIMOD, IWMI, CCAFS-CGIAR, Deltares, IHE, Wageningen University, etc. Apart from his diversified technical experiences, he has extensive experience in project planning, management and coordination. He has experience in engaging himself as both a national and international trainer and facilitator in climate change and water modeling-related trainings.
Mr. Rahaman pursued his M.Sc in Water Resources Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He obtained his B.Sc degree in Water Resources Engineering from the same institution. He has achieved several training and certifications in Natural Resources Management, Mathematical Modeling, Business Communication, Leadership, and Project Management. Mr. Ahmed is an ecologist, conservation professional, and acclaimed nature photographer who has been working on Nature and Biodiversity in Bangladesh for the past 15 years. With a dynamic and proven proactive adaptability, he envisions the possibilities of bringing out biodiversity conservation, which is under great threat. This exuberant researcher started his quest by completing his B.Sc. (Honors) and M.Sc. in Biological Science, specializing in Wildlife Ecology, Management, and Conservation Biology from Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh.
He worked as a research associate for more than a year in the Department of Zoology, JU up to 2008. Later, he served as Jr. Ecologist for Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services under the Ministry of Water Resources. He was assigned to special IEE (Initial Environmental Examination) and EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) study for different projects of the Ministry. Apparently, he devoted his research and documentation in upbringing "Prokriti O Jibon" (Nature and Life), the first-ever TV series showcasing Biodiversity and its current adverse situations on Channel i from 2009. Mr. Ahmed was visionary and intrepid to feature natural ecosystems, and wildlife habitat on TV screen for the first time in the country and help raise awareness of environmental issues globally, thus inspiring people to care about this planet.
He has notable experience of working in the overall biodiversity and environment sector of Bangladesh. He has visited more than 25 countries and participated in several international biodiversity and nature-based conferences including UNFCCC COP`s in Durban, Doha, and Warsaw as a Bangladesh Govt. delegate. For his nature conservation work, he was selected as 21 st Bangladesh Young and Future (Environment)-2012 by The Daily Star. Meanwhile, he co-founded a nature-based organization named Bangladesh Environment and Development Society (BEDS) in 2010. Being an ecologist, currently he is engaged in conducting various planning sector studies like Strategic Environmental Assessment (SEA), Feasibility Assessment, IEE, ESIA, Environmental Monitoring, Natural Resources Planning, Conservation and Management studies and so on.
