Carmen Eiker focuses her practice on all aspects of family law, including divorce, child custody, visitation, and support, as well as complex property division issues, and both premarital and post marital agreements. She is certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization in both family law and civil trial law. She is also trained in collaborative family law-a voluntary process under the Texas Family Code, which allows participants to resolve their family matters by agreement outside of litigation.
Clients appreciate Carmen's willingness to answer questions and provide not only information about what the law is, but also the benefit of her years of experience in the courtroom, and what they can expect a court to factor in to its decision. "At this point in my career, there is very little in family law that I haven't seen before," she explains. "Because of that, I am able to advise clients not just as to the next step, but what they may not see coming around the corner."
Premarital and post marital agreements have become a particularly strong focus area for Carmen. "These agreements were once looked upon as only for the uberwealthy or for celebrities," she explains. "But now you're seeing folks utilizing them more commonly and comfortably, in order to enter into their marriage with a clear understanding of their property to avoid later having that property become an issue."
Carmen's commitment to her family law clients has not gone unrecognized. During her career, she has been named a Fellow in the prestigious American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers (AAML); a Texas Super Lawyer (Thomson Reuters); one of the Top 100 Texas Super Lawyers; one of the Top 100 Dallas/Fort Worth Super Lawyers; a Top 50 Women Texas Super Lawyers (Thomson Reuters); and one of the Best Lawyers in America in both Family Law and Family Law Mediation.
