CHAMPAIGN CONSTRUCTION COMPANY - Key Persons

Merl Mennenga

Merl Mennenga was a young carpenter in 1964, a union apprentice, due to winter layoffs and union strikes he could not seem to make enough money to raise his family, so he decided to start his own business. His first job was a siding application job in St. Joseph, IL. Second day on that job an individual walked up on the job with a picture of a house in a magazine, he asked "Can you build this?", and Merl was off and running with his new business. Since that beginning he and his wife Phyllis have done many buildings, rentals, subdivisions, and started several other companies including single family, multi-family rentals, a real estate company, a maintenance division, and a garbage pickup division. Merl and Phyllis's two sons, Steve and Dale, are both involved in the construction business in Phoenix, Arizona, and are both as successful as dad and mom.
