The Canadian Foreign Exchange Committee (CFEC) was founded in 1989 to provide a forum for the regular discussion of issues and developments pertinent to the foreign exchange market, including the review of market practices and procedures... We were founded as Canada's central bank in 1934 and opened our doors in March 1935. In 1938, we became a Crown corporation belonging to the federal government... Financial system: We promote safe, sound and efficient financial systems, within Canada and internationally. We also conduct transactions in financial markets in support of these objectives.
