CFRS REALTY

The Fire and Police Retirement System was established on July 1, 1955, under charter Section 910 and is governed by Article 3 and 4 of Chapter 3 of the City of Fresno Municipal Code. Effective August 27, 1990, the City added a Second Tier that includes all full-time sworn Fire, Police, and Airport Safety personnel hired on or after that date... The System provides retirement allowances to all full-time sworn safety members employed by the City of Fresno. The System provides lifetime retirement, disability, and death benefits to its safety members. The Retirement Board is also responsible for the prudent investment of member and employer contributions, and defraying reasonable expenses of administration.
