Andrew J. Chomko

Andrew J. Chomko, an esteemed funeral home director at The Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, has an impressive background rooted in service and education. A native of West Scranton, he graduated from West Scranton Senior High School in 2003 and immediately dedicated himself to serving his country in the United States Army. As an Airborne Ranger in the 1st Ranger Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment based at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia, he completed four deployments in support of the Global War on Terror from 2003 to 2007. Following his military service, Chomko pursued higher education, starting at Lackawanna College where he graduated cum laude in 2010 with a degree in Business Administration. During his time there, he was instrumental in the re-organization of the Veterans Club and was recognized for his academic excellence as a member of Phi Theta Kappa. He continued his educational journey at Northampton Community College, where he earned a degree in Mortuary Science in 2017. Chomko's commitment to community and veterans' affairs is evident in his active participation in various organizations. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus and serves as the Commander/President of the American Ukrainian Veterans Association of Lackawanna County. His dedication to supporting veterans is further demonstrated through his role as Co-Founder and Vice President of Fight4Vets Inc. Additionally, he is a board member of the West Scranton Wrestling Alumni Association and a member of both the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. His combination of military experience, educational background, and active community involvement make him a respected and valued member of his profession and community.

Edward J. Chomko Sr., a distinguished funeral home director at The Edward J. Chomko Funeral Home, boasts a remarkable background and a wealth of experience. A proud alumnus of Scranton St. Patrick's High School, class of 1967, Chomko's journey is marked by his dedicated service in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970. During his military tenure, he served in the 1st Infantry Division and the 101st Airborne Division, completing one-year tours in Vietnam with each division. Post-military service, Chomko pursued academic excellence, graduating from the Pennsylvania State University, where he also served as the Vice President of the Veterans Club. Furthering his education, he graduated from the prestigious Simmons School of Mortuary Science. Chomko's commitment to his profession is evident in his attendance at the Jefferson School of Medicine, where he engaged in seminars covering a range of specialized topics such as Eye Nucleation, Organ Donation, and Pathological Science. Chomko's involvement extends beyond his professional pursuits into various memberships and associations. He is an active member of the American Legion, Post 7069, and holds membership in the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 908, AMVETS, the 82nd Airborne Association, Disabled American Veterans, Vietnam Veterans of America, and the Vietnam Memorial Association. His dedication to community service is further exemplified by his involvement with the Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), American Ukrainian Veterans, the Wounded Warrior Project, USO, and the Pennsylvania Funeral Directors Association. This extensive involvement reflects his ongoing commitment to serving his community and fellow veterans with the same dedication he showed during his distinguished military and academic career.
