As chief health equity officer, Bettina Tweardy Riveros is responsible for leading health policy and engaging community stakeholders in partnerships to advance ChristianaCare's strategy, mission and commitment to achieve health equity and advance population health. Riveros leads work to improve the health of every person in every community ChristianaCare serves by advancing an integrated social care framework, ensuring culturally and linguistically appropriate care, addressing disparities and advocating for policies to achieve health equity.
As senior vice president for government affairs and community engagement, Riveros is responsible for identifying and addressing legal, regulatory, policy and relationship issues to advance ChristianaCare's strategic objectives, with particular focus on legislative policy development, innovative population health and information technology solutions, health care reform and business development efforts.
Riveros joined ChristianaCare in January 2016. She serves as co-chair on the ChristianaCare Community Engagement and Advisory Council, on the Board of REACH Riverside, and as co-chair of the REACH Health, Wellness and Safety Committee.
Additionally, Riveros serves as vice chair on the Board of Directors for Serviam Girls Academy; on the Delaware Business Roundtable Education Committee Steering Committee; and on the Delaware State Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors and Annual Dinner Committee.
Prior to joining ChristianaCare, Riveros served as senior adviser for health policy in the office of Delaware Gov. Jack Markell and as chair of the Delaware Health Care Commission. Among her many accomplishments, she was responsible for developing the strategy to implement the Affordable Care Act in Delaware, including the Health Insurance Exchange partnership model and Medicaid expansion that expanded access to health care for thousands of Delawareans; and for leading the development of the State Innovation Model to support Delaware's transition to new health care delivery and payment models and an increased focus on population health. Riveros was a founding member of the Delaware Center for Health Innovation and served on the DHIN Board and Delaware Health Resource Board.

Dr. Michael Benninghoff oversees one of the nation's leading and busiest hospital intensive care units. Dr. Benninghoff is joined ChristianaCare in 2008 and is currently the Section Chief for Medical Critical Care, medical director for the Christiana Hospital medical intensive care unit as well as Respiratory Care dept. He serves as co-chair of the Medical Emergency Response Committee and Pulmonary Embolism Response Committee and chairs the Critical Care Committee. He has been recognized for research, teaching/education and leadership on many occasions over the last decade plus here at ChristianaCare. He was recently named to serve on the Gift Of Life Medical Advisory and Policy Board for years 2020-2023.
Dr. Benninghoff graduated from Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa. with a bachelor's degree in biology and natural sciences before attending Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine to complete his masters of science in biomedical sciences and physiology. Dr. Benninghoff continued his medical education at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine earning his medical degree in 2001. During his internal medicine residency at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pa., he served as chief resident in his third year. He went on to complete a pulmonary/critical care fellowship at Penn State College of Medicine, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pa. in 2005.

She is nationally recognized as a pioneer and thought leader in value-based care and population health, and for her assertion that truly great health care is built on the values of love and excellence. These values are exemplified in her commitment to health equity and anti-racism, and to improving health, making high-quality care more accessible and lowering health care costs for everyone in the communities that ChristianaCare has the privilege to serve. Her leadership has also vaulted ChristianaCare to national recognition for its advancement of caregiver wellbeing through the work of the Center for WorkLife Wellbeing.
Under Dr. Nevin's leadership, ChristianaCare developed the unique data-driven care coordination platform CareVio™ to proactively address patients' social and behavioral health needs in addition to their medical needs. This program supports patients across the continuum of care and is demonstrating better health outcomes while reducing the cost of care. It earned the 2017 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award, the nation's preeminent recognition for quality and safety in health care, and a 2017 Stand Up for Patient Safety Management Award from the National Patient Safety Foundation.
Dr. Nevin also led the development of eBrightHealth ACO, an accountable care organization to improve care coordination, clinical quality and value in Delaware and the region.
Modern Healthcare selected Dr. Nevin as one of its 50 Most Influential Clinical Executives in 2020, 2021 and 2022 in addition to naming her to the publication's Top 25 Women Leaders in 2019 and 2022. As general counsel at Lourdes, Schwartz was responsible for all legal matters at a three-hospital health system, participated in the oversight of health system operations and led strategic revenue-generating initiatives. As chief executive director of the LHS Health Network ACO she was responsible for leading the strategy, operations and performance of the network, eventually building the organization to be one of the largest primary care physician networks in New Jersey.

Dr. LeRoi Hicks is the recipient of numerous clinical and research awards and is nationally known for his research on health care disparities.
His research has been related to three areas:
Dr. LeRoi Hicks, chair of ChristianaCare's department of medicine and a study organizer, said they've started to realize that only a small amount of what is done in hospitals and clinics actually improves the health of communities. "We need much more information about what occurs outside of hospitals, particularly for those most vulnerable populations, which include people from high-stressed communities and communities that are traditionally under-resourced," Hicks said.
LeRoi Hicks, now vice chair of the department of medicine at ChristianaCare Health System in Delaware and author of the Harvard study, said the main problem is systemic.

Lisa Maxwell, M.D., MHCDS is president of the ChristianaCare Medical Group.
In this role, Dr. Maxwell leads efforts to improve every aspect of care for every person the ChristianaCare Medical Group touches. Her priorities include the adoption of population health measures, the embedding of health equity into care delivery and workforce development, expansion of access points for patients, and the continuous enhancement of patient and caregiver experience.
Prior to her current role, Dr. Maxwell served as ChristianaCare's chief learning officer. Before that, she worked in both student and resident education, serving as the program director in Family Medicine, co-program director for the Emergency Medicine-Family Medicine Residency Program and director for Undergraduate Medical Education. She also has served as interim chair for the Department of Family & Community Medicine.
Dr. Maxwell completed her medical education at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Her residency training took place at Crozer-Keystone Family Medicine.
She joined ChristianaCare in 2005, completing a fellowship in faculty development with a focus on the care of underserved populations. In addition to leading efforts in clinical system education, she led efforts to establish the Sidney Kimmel Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University's Delaware Branch Campus for medical students.

Dr. Jasani provides oversight for both the ChristianaCare Institute for Learning, Leadership and Development (iLEAD) and Human Resources Department, and continues to lead Medical Affairs. Sharon L. Anderson, R.N., B.S.N., M.S., FACHE, is the Chief Virtual Health Officer and President of the Center for Virtual Health at ChristianaCare.
Ms. Anderson, in her previous role as the Sr. Vice President for Quality and Patient Safety, led ChristianaCare in achieving national recognition related to several patient safety and quality initiatives, including winning the prestigious 2017 John M. Eisenberg Award and the Stand Up for Patient Safety Management Award for outcomes achieved through ChristianaCare's CareVio Services, the Truven Health Analytics Everest and 100 Top Hospitals Awards, the Joint Commission's prestigious Ernest A. Codman Award, Becker's 100 Great Hospitals in America and top ratings from Healthgrades, Leapfrog, U.S. News and World Report, and Carechex for clinical outcomes.
Ms. Anderson has helped develop several new programs to address the entire continuum of cancer care, including prevention, screening, surveillance, diagnosis and treatment, management of complications, and end-of-life issues. She won the WHYY Community Caring Award for her innovative work in cancer care.
