Alvaro Herran obtained his title of Higher Technician in Environmental Chemistry in 2003 making practices AZTI-Tecnalia. Later got a degree in Environmental Sciences at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU, Vitoria-Gasteiz) in 2011. In 2012 studied a Master in Environmental Agrobiology at the UPV-EHU. Between 2012/2013 was among at Neiker-Tecnalia where he participated in the research project "Genotype-environment interaction linked to the concentration of acrylamide in potato consumption Promoters" (Master thesis). In 2014 started working in the city hall of Vitoria-Gasteiz as Inspector Analyst in Gardelegui landfill until September 2016, cooperating in Technosols project for Department of Environment and Public Space. He also worked as an environmental technician for Elder, Galemys and Hidrocontrol. He is currently in CIC energiGUNE as Lab Technician in Post Mortem and Prototyping group.

Amna Rafique obtained her bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore, Pakistan in 2019 and worked for 1 year as a Graduate Assitant at UET Lahore. She started her Erasmus Mundus Master's program in Materials for Energy Storage and Conversion (MESC+) in 2020 and studied in Warsaw University of Technology (WUT), University of Paul Sabatier (UPS-III) and University of Basque Country (UPV). She did her master's research at ‘Laboratory of Reactivity and Chemistry of Solids(LRCS), France' on "Synthesis and Crystal Chemistry of Wadsley-Roth-type negative electrodes" under the supervision of Prof. Christian Masqueilier and Dr. Jean-Noel Chotard. She joins CIC energiGUNE under DESTINY European Doctoral Program for "Design and development of interfaces for anode-less solid state batteries" under the supervision of Dr. PEDRO LOPEZ-ARANGUREN. She will conduct part of her doctoral research at LRCS, France.

With a background and degree in both Engineering and Business Administration, Andoni Ruiz has worked as a project manager for the last 9 years. In this period, he has interacted with a variety of stakeholders at several companies, from customers and suppliers to the Board of Directors. His experience includes presenting to Boards and finding solutions to problems that threatened strategic roadmaps.
His experience throughout his career is related to a wide range of technological solutions, from software and hardware development to the commercialisation of nanomaterials. He has also managed the technology partners in national and European projects.
Andoni is used to working on multiple projects simultaneously and has worked for an innovation finance consultancy and two startups. As a result, he has a global vision of what factors to take into account for scaling-up startups. His duties in startups consisted of all non-technical tasks necessary for the subsistence of the company, among others creating the Business Plan to raise funding. He often needed to: (i) conduct a comprehensive analysis of the market need for the company's solution; (ii) provide an overview of the technology; (iii) understand the total markets, the initial markets and their trends; (iv) outline the business model where the scope had to be assessed, customer profiles, the match between customers and the value proposition offered, revenue streams, channels and customer relationships and key activities, partners and resources; (v) present a 5-year corporate development plan and (vi) conduct a financial analysis of the plan.

Asier Soria Fernández graduated in Materials Engineering at the UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) in 2020. As part of a collaboration programme between European universities, he completed his final year of his degree, along with his degree project in Nancy (France) at the EEIGM (École Européenne d´Ingénieurs en Génie des Matériaux). Within this programme, he started his Master studies in Materials Science and Engineering (2020-2022), doing one semester at EEIGM, and continuing at Luleå Tekniska Universitet (LTU) in Sweden, where he worked on a project on the development and characterisation of oxide-based thin-film solar cells, and his Master thesis on Metal Matrix Composites together with Sandvik SRP AB. In August 2022 he joined CIC energiGUNE as a lab technician in the Li-S research line, working on the processing and optimisation of Li-S batteries.

Asier Uria Martinez, born in Barakaldo, has completed his training in pharmaceutical manufacturing techniques and quality control at CIFP San Jorge LHII Santurce and Zabalburu Ikastetxea Bilbao. His practical experience includes collaborations with BOGA Mungia and a period at the Institute of Physiology of the Czech Academy of Sciences in Prague, working in areas related to the brewing industry and neuroscience research.
In February 2024, he joined CIC energiGUNE as a laboratory technician in the Organic Materials Synthesis and Design group.

Brigette completed her BSc Honours in Chemistry with minors in Physics and Mathematics at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) in South Africa with Cum Laude. Her BSc Thesis focused on Organic Chemistry, in particular, the synthesis of a novel compound found in Porphyra Capensis (Red seaweed). She participated in a 1-month internship at SAIAMC (South African Institute for Advanced Materials Chemistry) located at UWC. Following her Bachelor studies, she completed an exchange semester with Erasmus+ at the University of Leiden in the Netherlands, specializing in Electrochemistry, Photosynthesis and Bioenergy, Modern Organic Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
Brigette received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellowship, participating in the MESC+ Erasmus Mundus Programme (Materials Science for Energy Storage and Conversion). Her MSc Fellowship enabled her to study at various universities in Europe: Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, University of Toulouse Paul Sabatier in France and the University of Basque Country in Spain. She completed her MSc internship at CIC energiGUNE, with a multidisciplinary focus: Modelling and Computational Simulation and Advanced Electrolytes, specifically, the synthesis of novel polyanionic polymer electrolytes for Li-metal batteries.
Currently, she is a Predoctoral Research Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow under the Destiny PhD program, continuing from her MSc Thesis, combining theoretical and experimental techniques to study polymer electrolytes for Li-metal batteries.

Bruno Correa de Souza finished his degree in Chemical Engineering in 2020 in the University of Basque Country (UPV-EHU). Before that, he carried out the final degree project in the University of Basque Country on thermodynamic analysis of hydrogen production from steam reforming of hydrocarbons and oxygen compounds.
In 2018 he did the intership of the degree in the CIC energiGUNE in "Cell Prototyping" group. He is currently in CIC energiGUNE as Lab Technician in "Battery Post-Mortem Analysis and Ageing" group.

Clara Rojas García finished her Physics degree at the University of Granada in 2016. This year, she defended her end-of-degree thesis in the field of electronics, on tunnel effect transistors that are able to work at very low energies and in which quantum effects are the basis of operation. In 2018, she began his master´s studies at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in Sustainable Energy Engineering. She completed his master´s thesis on the calculation of residual heat and gamma and neutron source terms in BWR fuel assemblies, with the aim of characterizing the spent fuel and studying its composition under different operating conditions. She is currently working on her doctoral thesis at the University of Mondragon in collaboration with CIC energiGUNE, where she will work closely with the Battery Post-Mortem Analysis and Ageing group and Modelling and Computational Simulation group. His doctoral thesis is focused on the modeling of storage systems with physics-based models.

Cristina Luengo obtained her degree in Industrial Technical Engineering with the specialty of Industrial Chemistry at University of the Basque Country in 2007. Between 2007/2008 she studied a Master of Renewable Energy at the University of Leon. In 2008 started a scholarship in Biocompost de Alava making studies about waste characterization and optimization of biogas production. Between 2008 and 2014 she worked as Quality Inspector in wind and automobile sector and as Environmental Technician in machine tool sector. Since March 2016 she is working at CIC energiGUNE attending different research projects related to thermal energy storage.

Davide Caporale conducted his studies at Sapienza University of Rome. In 2019, with a thesis devoted to the study of measurement techniques for connective tissue diseases, he completed his Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Engineering. Then, in 2022, he carried out his Master's degree in Nanotechnology Engineering.
He worked as a master´s thesis student in the molecular photonics laboratory of Prof. Francesco Michelotti, with the aim to optimize a breast cancer biomarker detection technique. He focused his research on the interaction between macromolecules to enhance the fluorescence signal stimulated by Bloch Surface waves excited by one-dimensional photonic crystals.
Then, during his experience in the private sector, he worked as a Junior researcher to the MICOLET project in cooperation with Sapienza University of Rome and Italian Institute of Technology. He developed an optical cavity microscope for the diagnosis of deep skin injuries at terahertz frequencies.
In September 2023, Davide Caporale joined CIC energiGUNE as a pre-doctoral reasearcher to conduct a doctoral thesis about the physicochemical phenomena of wetting-drying of nanoporous material with non-wetting liquids.

Dr. Eduardo J. Garcia-Suarez received his PhD in 2007. His thesis, developed in the frame of an international collaboration between the University Rovira i Virgili and the Istituto di Chimica dei Composti Organometallici-CNR and supervised by Prof. Carmen Claver and Prof. Claudio Bianchini, was entitled "Palladium complexes containing diphosphine and sulfonated phosphine ligands for C-C bond forming reactions. Catalytic and Mechanistic studies". After, he worked as post-doctoral researcher, 4 months, at the Chemical Research Institute of Catalonia (Tarragona) in the group of Prof. Piet Van Leeuwen developing new phosphine ligands for the telomerization of 1,3-butadiene. Then, He was awarded with a JAE-Doc fellowship (CSIC), 3 years, to develop his own research line devoted to the design, preparation and characterization of new hybrid catalytic systems combining aminoacid-based ionic liquids, metal transition nanoparticles and mesoporous carbon materials for catalytic applications, at the National Institute of Coal (Oviedo). During this period, he was awarded with 2 fellowships "José Castillejo", the first one 4 months at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in the group of Prof. Anders Riisager acquiring experience in the synthesis of ionic liquids and the second one 6 months, at the Laboratoire de Chimie de Coordination (LCC-CNRS, Toulouse) in the group of Dr. Karine Philippot acquiring experience in the synthesis of transition metal nanoparticles. After, in 2011 He was awarded with a fellowship from the Principado de Asturias within the "Programa Clarín", 1 year, at the LCC-CNRS in the group of Dr. Philippot to continue his research on metal nanoparticles synthesis on mesoporous carbons for catalytic applications. In September 2012, He joined as Senior Researcher the group of Prof. Riisager at DTU, where He combined teaching and research duties in the field of supported ionic liquid phase catalysts (SILP) and fixed-bed reactors technologies for continuous gas phase reactions. In 2017, He was awarded with an IKERBASQUE fellowship, joining the group of Sustainable Chemistry at TECNALIA, to work in the field of biomass and CO 2 conversion into added value products. In June 2020, He joins the group of Phase transitions and critical behaviors at CICenergiGUNE where he works in the design/characterization of bio-based phase change materials energy storage applications. He is co-author of 36 papers, 3 patents and 2 book chapters. He has supervised bachelor (8), master (3), PhD (5) students. He is part of the editorial board of the Journal of Chemical Science and Chemical Engineering.

Expert in battery technology from laboratory scale to industrial module. Dr. Emilie Bekaert lead group of Ageing, Post-mortem & Safety in CIC energiGUNE. She works with industrial and academic partners to develop, diagnose and improve battery for stationary and mobility application. She holds a broad set of problem-solve and technical skill that would benefit the understanding of battery and enhance them performances and lifespans. Here techniques came from more than 15 years of research in science from fundamental to apply. First, she completed her PhD in Materials science from the university Lille I (France) in 2004. Where she focused her thesis work in the conversion of tin and alkali chlorides to phosphates and vitrification into silicate glasses. Second, as a post-doc research fellow, she joined the Network of Excellence ALISTORE at the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry in Bordeaux (France). Her research was dedicated to the applications of solid-state NMR to the structural and physicochemical characterization of Li-ion batteries materials. In 2008, she joined ZSW-Zentrum für Sonnenenergie und Wasserstoff-Forschung, Ulm, Germany and worked on scaled-up synthesis for industrial partners. Under the supervision of Dr. Margret Wohlfahrt-Mehrens (ZSW), she also joined in 2011 the Helmholtz Institute Ulm (Germany). Her research focused on different topics related to electrode materials for Li-ion batteries. In 2014, she became research line manager of Post mortem at the CIC energiGUNE, where her teams focus on the analyses of failure mechanism of Electrical Energy storage (EES) systems. Since 2018 the line had then evolved to a group with the addition of new competences as ageing and safety.

Eduardo Gil Jiménez obtained his Chemistry degree in 2018 from the University of La Rioja. He did his Final Degree Project in the "Biological Chemistry" research group of the same University, conducting a research project on the synthesis of several fluorescent derivatives, namely, reproducing the chemical reaction that is produced inside the body of fireflies. Subsequently, he continued his academic career pursuing a Master's Degree in Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country. He developed his Master´s thesis in the "New Synthetic Methodologies" research group, performing aromatic ring´s one-pot trifunctionalisation reactions catalyzed by palladium. After completing his studies, he worked as a researcher for Faes Farma, a Spanish pharmaceutical company, synthesizing different precursors of untested drugs. Besides this, he has also worked as quality control and laboratory technician in Cocatech, being responsible for the quality assurance processes and testing of products. Nowadays, Eduardo is working at CIC energiGUNE as a laboratory technician in the "Polymer-Rich Electrolyte Batteries" research line.

Eduardo received his B.S. degree in chemistry from University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and did his undergraduate research working on the iron-catalyzed C-C cross coupling at Utrecht University under the supervision of Prof. Klein Gebbink. He obtained his PhD on asymmetric organocatalysis at UPV/EHU under the mentorship of Prof. Jose Luis Vicario. As a graduate student he visited Berkeley for a short stay at the Toste Group to learn about fluorination chemistry in 2015. After his PhD. he joined CIC energiGUNE as a postdoctoral researcher in the Polymer electrolytes research line. Within this area he has focused his interests in highly stable polymers, high performing new salts that allow for low temperature cycling and new polysalt formulation that ensure long lasting lithium batteries. Currently, his main activity has turned into the evaluation and development of redox flow batteries. Electrolyte has been appointed as key component of those batteries, thus, CIC energiGUNE works on current state of art vanadium based solutions as well as in the development of new organic based electrolytes as the real perspective of future for the sector.

Edurne Jaime Barquero is graduated in Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country (2019). She did her Final Degree project at the Faculty of Chemistry of Donostia in the IDeKA group (Image Analysis and Chemometrics) on the determination of food dyes in solid samples by image analysis and chemometrics. This project was presented by Poster at the "X Colloquium Chemometricum Mediterraneum" in 2019. Subsequently, she completed the Master's degree in Chemistry and Polymers at the University of the Basque Country (2020). She developed her Master´s Thesis at Cidetec Surface Engineering, for which she developed a methodology for the control of Electroless Nickel baths where PTFE particles were determined by image analysis and chemometrics, together with coating analysis techniques. After finishing her studies, she continued her research in the IDeKa group together with Cidetec Surface Engineering, in the PTFE determination method. She is currently working as a predoctoral researcher on the thesis "Novel in operando and ex situ non-destructive battery analytical development" at CIC energiGUNE.
