KDL Enterprises, Inc. began in 1978 as a sheet metal shop owned and operated by Kit and Dan Law. The company's first skylight product, dubbed "Dandee", outpaced sales of other products and quickly became the main focus of the operation. KDL was sold to Stuart Thornton in 1985; he re-engineered the product and changed the product name to "Western Skylights"... Don Hess purchased KDL in 1990; since that time the company has experienced tremendous sales growth. KDL Enterprises, Inc. has become a regional leader (Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska) in residential skylights by building a quality product backed by unparalleled customer service. To continue to grow the business and provide growth opportunities for its employees, other markets for skylights were investigated. It became clear that our products were uniquely suited for the Pacific Northwest climate and were, in effect, "overbuilt" for warmer and drier climates.
