Biography
James Hodge joins the Commission from Genesis Analytics where he has been the managing partner of the Competition and Regulatory Economics (CRE) practice since 2005.
Prior to that he was a senior lecturer and postgraduate convener at the University of Cape Town's School of Economics, as well as a senior researcher at UCT's Development Policy Research Unit. His research and teaching was in the areas of industrial organisation, regulation and international trade.
He has a huge depth of experience, having provided expert economic advice and reports in hundreds of cases across the full spectrum of economic sectors and in a number of Southern and East African jurisdictions.
As an expert witness, Hodge has prevailed in a numerous precedent-setting cases in the areas of abuse of dominance and public interest in merger control. These include the far-reaching Commission settlement agreement with Telkom that led to the wholesale separation of Openserve and the extension of public interest to affected suppliers in the Walmart-Massmart merger.
Hodge is considered a leading expert in sector-specific regulation. He has advised regulators and regulated firms alike on key economic issues shaping the oversight of important sectors of the economy

Biography
Londiwe Mncube is an expert people management specialist with international and national experience in the private and public sector. Ms Mncube possess experience in building effective relationships, strategic business partnering across all levels and providing consulting services with top executives in the full lifecycle of Human Resources management. Ms Mncube holds a Masters in Human Resources Management from the University of Pretoria.
In her role as the Chief Human Resources Officer, she is responsible for developing and executing the human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organisation. In addition, provide strategic leadership by articulating HR needs and plans to the executive management team.
The Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Mr Ebrahim Patel announced his decision to appoint Ms Doris Tshepe as the new Commissioner for one of the country's most significant economic regulators, the Competition Commission.
Cabinet was briefed on the decision and gave its support to the decision. Ms Tshepe will commence duties as Competition Commissioner by (01)September 2022.
