David Farrar is Curia's principal. He wrote his first poll when he was in secondary school at Rongotai College (it was a survey of pupils on whether or not they wanted the school to continue with corporal punishment). David set up Curia in 2004, after over a decade of involvement in polling ranging from being a telephone researcher to writing questions and analysing the data. Since 2004 David has designed and conducted polls for scores of clients including multinational companies, large NZ corporates, political parties and candidates, NGOs, industry groups and media. David worked in the New Zealand Parliament for eight years in various research, communications and strategic roles, including an appointment as Executive Assistant to the Prime Minister. David personally oversees the question design and analysis of all quantitative research Curia does. David, a member of the Research Association of New Zealand, has over a decade's experience in all aspects of polling. He has managed everything from question design to results analysis for over 500 polls. He played a leading role in the formulation of the New Zealand Political Polling Code.
