Alim F. Ramji

Alim F. Ramji, MD is a fellowship-trained orthopaedic trauma surgeon treating patients with traumatic bone injuries. Dr. Ramji also performs joint replacement surgeries. Whether patients are involved in a motor vehicle accident, suffered a fall, or are living with chronic joint pain, Dr. Ramji and his team offer patients a comprehensive treatment plan that focuses on achieving their goals. Raised in Oklahoma, Dr. Ramji received his medical degree from the prestigious Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He went on to complete an orthopaedic surgery residency at the University of Connecticut and a fellowship in orthopaedic trauma at Yale University, learning from highly experienced and nationally recognized faculty. In his free time, Dr. Ramji enjoys training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and enjoys spending time with his wife and cats. He is thrilled to be a part of Connecticut Orthopaedics and to have the opportunity to help members of his community return to the active lifestyles they love.

Allen M. Ferrucci

Allen M. Ferrucci, M.D. is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. Ferrucci's surgical interests include arthroscopic and open treatment of foot and ankle as well as shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. Dr. Ferrucci treats a wide array of orthopaedic problems, but has special interest in the lower extremity. His practice focuses on foot and ankle sports medicine, reconstruction, arthroplasty, and trauma. Allen M. Ferrucci, M.D. is an orthopaedic surgeon at Connecticut Orthopaedics. Dr. Ferrucci's surgical interests include arthroscopic and open treatment of foot and ankle as well as shoulder, elbow, hip, and knee. He is fellowship trained and joined us directly from the renowned Orthopedic Foot and Ankle Center in Westerville, Ohio. He attained his undergraduate degree from Boston College where he graduated Summa Cum laude and his M.D. from Georgetown University School of Medicine, graduating Cum laude. He completed his residency nearby at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. Ferrucci treats a wide array of orthopaedic problems, but has special interest in the lower extremity. His practice focuses on foot and ankle sports medicine, reconstruction, arthroplasty, and trauma. He will be seeing patients at five of our neighborhood offices including several shoreline locations. He is an attending surgeon at Yale-New Haven Hospital and the Yale-New Haven Hospital St. Raphael's Campus. Dr. Ferrucci is also a Board of Directors Resident Member of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society as well as a Resident Member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. An accomplished speaker, Dr. Ferrucci has lectured on a variety of topics ranging from "The Effects of Smoking on the Musculoskeletal System" to "Management of Blood Loss in Orthopaedic Surgery." Dr. Ferrucci is excited to be back in his home state. A native of North Branford, he loves sports of all kinds, especially basketball and softball. During his residency, he held assistant team physician roles at high schools in Clinton and Wallingford and also provided medical assistance at the New Haven Open at Yale (U.S. Open Series). Now that he's back in New England, he's looking forward to pursuing some of his favorite outdoor activities including backpacking, hiking, camping, and canoeing.

Christopher B. Lynch

Dr. Chris Lynch is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon that specializes in adult reconstructive surgery, hip & knee, arthritis surgery and computer assisted surgery. Dr. Aaron Schachter is a specialist in sports medicine and arthroscopy as well as minimally-invasive joint surgery and reconstructive shoulder surgery. Dr. Schachter provides orthopaedic care for patients with athletic injuries and trauma-related orthopaedic injuries. Dr. Aaron Schachter is a specialist in sports medicine and arthroscopy as well as minimally-invasive joint surgery and reconstructive shoulder surgery. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has also been a member in good standing of the Milford Hospital Department of Orthopaedic Surgery since 2008. He is a member of the Milford Medical Society, the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Schachter provides orthopedic care for patients with athletic injuries and trauma-related orthopaedic injuries. Dr. Schachter completed his orthopaedic surgical residency at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City, and he has also undergone training in orthopaedic trauma surgery at Baltimore's Shock Trauma Center. From 2007-2008, Dr. Schachter participated in a prestigious Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy Orthopaedic Surgery fellowship at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City, where he was awarded for outstanding clinical research. He served as part of the medical team caring for athletes of the New York Jets football team, the New York Islanders hockey team and both the Hunter College and Hofstra University athletic teams. He has authored and co-authored many papers and research articles related to sports medicine and orthopaedic trauma.

Dr. Benjamin Barnes

Dr. Benjamin Barnes graduated from the University of Binghamton where he received his Bachelor of Science in Integrative Neuroscience. Thereafter he received his Doctorate of Chiropractic from the University of Bridgeport. He specializes in the evaluation and treatment of injuries to the spine as well as many athletic injuries. He is an acupuncture certified provider and has extensive knowledge of biomechanics and sports specific exercises. His interests include the treatment and prevention of overuse injuries such as golfers/tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, and shoulder impingements that compliment his treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. Dr. Barnes is also a Certified Strength and Condition Specialist with a background in sports specific performance and functional assessments. This has led to athletes performing better, and staying injury free.

Dr. Charles Kent

Dr. Charles Kent is a fellowship-trained Physiatrist, who specializes in Interventional Spine and Musculoskeletal Medicine. He has expertise in treating all musculoskeletal conditions with an emphasis in non surgical spine medicine and non surgical peripheral joint treatments. Afterwards, Dr. Russo completed his fellowship in Spinal Surgery at the renowned Rothman Institute in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Russo has particular expertise in adult and pediatric spinal disorders, minimally-invasive spinal surgery, complex scoliosis and spinal deformity, and spinal trauma. Dr. Russo serves as a Clinical Instructor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the Yale School of Medicine as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Frank H. He is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery in the Frank H. Netter Medical School at Quinnipiac University. Dr. James J. Yue was most recently co-chief of the orthopaedic spine surgery section at the Yale School of Medicine. He was also director of the ACGME Yale Spine Fellowship as well as the lead surgeon for motion sparing as well as endoscopic spine surgery. Dr. John Daigneault

Isaac Cohen

A triple Board-Certified physician in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Pain Medicine and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Dr. Cohen graduated with distinction in Psychology from McGill University, and received his medical degree from Tel Aviv University's Sackler School of Medicine. Subsequently, he completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, where he served as chief resident. He was fellowship-trained in Spine and Occupational Medicine at Boston's New England Baptist Hospital, with a focus on spinal intervention and functional restoration. He has been a physiatrist at the Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Center in Trumbull, Connecticut since 2001, and joined Connecticut Orthopaedics in 2018.

James Spak

Dr. Klauser's surgical interests include arthroscopic and open treatment of shoulder, elbow, hip, knee, and ankle injuries, as well as general orthopaedics. Jeffrey M. Klauser, M.D. is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon at Connecticut Orthopaedics having joined the team in 2012 and opening the Shelton office. He has additional subspecialty training in arthroscopic surgery and the treatment of sports related injuries in patients of all ages. Dr. Klauser's passion for team sports began at a young age while participating in community-sponsored athletics. Dr. Klauser has fond memories of the time he spent at Shelton High School where he lettered in football and basketball. It was during this time he witnessed first-hand the importance of quality medical treatment for young athletes. His love of sports along with his dedication to care for and serve his community is what ultimately led him to pursue his career in the field of sports medicine. Following the completion of his residency, Dr. Klauser was selected to become a sports medicine fellow under the tutelage of world-renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. James Andrews. While at the Andrews Institute, Dr. Klauser worked side-by-side with Dr. Andrews where he learned advanced techniques to care for the highest level of professional athlete and young amateur athletes alike. His team physician experience included the Toronto Blue Jays, Tampa Bay Rays, Washington Nationals, Auburn University, Pensacola Blue Wahoos, University of West Florida, and multiple high school sports teams, including the Under Armour All-American Team. Dr. Klauser has served as team orthopaedic physician for the Bridgeport Blue Fish and Albertus Magnus College. Dr. Klauser's research includes studies on the treatment of rotator cuff injuries as well as complex knee trauma. He has served as faculty at both the ASMI Annual Injuries in Baseball and Football courses, and has served as an instructor at the annual meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has presented grand rounds several times at Albany Medical Center and at the Andrews Institute. A native of Connecticut, Dr. Klauser resides in Shelton with his wife, Rachel, and their two daughters Olivia and Zoey. His interests include spending time with his family, fishing, and golfing.

Jeffrey M. Sumner

Dr. Sumner is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon. After graduating from Albany Medical College, Dr. Sumner completed a fellowship at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas. Dr. Sumner's practice is largely dedicated to the treatment of adult spinal disorders, including degenerative and traumatic injuries. Because of his continued interest in spinal deformities, Dr. Sumner furthered his studies with a fellowship at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital in Houston, Texas under the direction of the renowned Dr. Alexander Brodsky. Since completing this fellowship, his practice has been primarily directed to the treatment of adult spinal disorders, including degenerative and traumatic injuries. Dr. Sumner has continued to expand his research in the treatment of skeletal trauma by independent study and is an active participant on the trauma panel at both the Hospital of St. Raphael and Yale-New Haven Hospital. Also, he has traveled extensively throughout the United States presenting seminars and conducting research regarding the spine, trauma, and general orthopaedics. Dr. Sumner is on staff at Yale-New Haven Hospital serving as the Community Assistant Chief of the Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation Department, a member of faculty of Yale Medical School and regular lecturer to Residents and Medical Students. Dr. Sumner is a member of the North American Spine Society and the Orthopaedic Trauma Association through which he participates in the Resident Trauma Training Course. As a member of A-O North America, he participates as faculty by teaching seminars in Spine and Trauma instructing practicing surgeons, residents, and/or personnel. Dr. Sumner is married and has three children. When he is not working, he can be found racing sailboats on Long Island Sound. Dr. Jeffrey Sumner, a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, received his undergraduate degree from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and his medical school degree from Albany Medical College. He performed his orthopaedic training as a resident at the Albany Medical Center Hospital, which he completed in 1984.

Jenna A. Bernstein

Dr. Jenna Bernstein is Board-Certified in Orthopaedic Surgery specializing in hip and knee replacement surgeon. Dr. Bernstein believes in an individualized approach to developing each patient's surgical or non-surgical plan to treat hip or knee pain. She performs both the anterior and posterior approach to the hip, and has extensive treatment in navigations and robotics for hip replacement. She also specializes in partial knee replacements, outpatient joint replacement, revision total hip replacement, revision total knee replacement, and hip fractures. Dr. Bernstein is a Fairfield, Connecticut native, and earned her medical degree from the University of Connecticut. She completed her residency at the University of Pennsylvania, and an additional year of advanced fellowship training in hip and knee replacement at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases and the Insall Scott Kelley Institute.

Dr. John Kelley is certified in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and General Orthopaedics by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. His particular expertise involves treatment of injuries to the shoulder and knee with emphasis on sports related injuries. Currently, he is an attending surgeon at the Connecticut Orthopaedic Surgical Centers in Branford and Milford, Yale-New Haven Hospital and MidState Medical Center. Dr. Kelley received his B.A. degree from Yale University and his M.D. degree from the Medical College of Ohio, Toledo, Ohio where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. He completed his residency in general surgery at Yale-New Haven Hospital, followed by an orthopaedic surgery residency at both Yale-New Haven Hospital and Newington Children's Hospital. A recipient of a Sports Medicine Fellowship, Dr. Kelley studied Sports Medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic, Inglewood, California. While in California, Dr. Kelley provided sports medicine coverage for the following professional and college teams: L.A. Rams, Lakers, Kings, Dodgers, California Angels; and Loyola Marymount University, University of Southern CA, and California State University, LA Branch. Dr. Kelley has presented at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and at Newington Children's Hospital, Newington, CT. Articles for publication have appeared in Dr. F.W. Jobe's Operative Techniques in Upper Extremity Sports Injuries, St. Louis Mosby-Year Book and the American Journal of Sports Medicine. Dr. Kelley is affiliated with the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Medical Association, New Haven County Medical Association, Connecticut State Medical Association and Alpha Omega Alpha. Additionally, Dr. Kelley is an orthopaedic consultant to the NFL sports agency, JL Sports. A resident of Branford, CT, Dr. Kelley joined Connecticut Orthopaedic Specialists, P.C. in 1992. Hobbies and outside interests include spending time with his family; his wife Jean, son Patrick and daughter-in-law Ainsley, daughter Kathleen and son-in-law Chris and granddaughter Ella, and son Brian. Jack also enjoys, boating, golf and fitness. In 2010, Dr. Kelley and his wife, Jean, founded Brian's Hope, (BriansHope.org) a non-profit foundation honoring their son, Brian, who suffers from adrenoleukodystrophy. (ALD) ALD is a genetic inherited disease that affects the nervous system. With the addition of ALD to the newborn screening panel in CT in 2013, they hope to keep other young boys from suffering the same challenges Brian has. Early detection is life saving. Dr. Kelley also provides voluntary coverage at area high school sporting events.

John D. McCallum, III

Dr. John McCallum is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon and the Medical Director of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at MidState Medical Center program. Dr. McCallum specializes in knee problems including arthritic and sports related injuries. He has been an innovator of hip and knee arthroscopic surgery, salvage and reconstructive techniques, including minimally-invasive treatments with a special interest in orthopeadic knee replacement surgery. John D. McCallum, III joined Connecticut Orthopaedics in 1995 after completing a fellowship in joint replacement surgery at the Rothman Institute of Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. The Rothman Institute is considered one of the nation's leading training programs in joint reconstruction. A graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, Dr. McCallum completed a surgical internship at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery and Rehabilitation at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, Massachusetts. He served as Chief Resident at UMMC from 1993-1994. He also earned a Master's degree in physiology and biophysics from Georgetown University. Currently, he is the Medical Director of the Connecticut Orthopaedic Institute at MidState Medical Center program he established in collaboration with multiple members of Connecticut Orthopaedics. His is also an instructor at Yale University School of Medicine and an attending physician at Yale-New Haven Hospital. Dr. McCallum has written a number of articles in orthopaedic journals and has presented orthopaedic grand rounds at Yale-New Haven and Thomas Jefferson Hospitals. He has been on the faculty of multiple national hip and knee reconstruction meetings and a presenter at the annual national meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr. McCallum, a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon is a member of the American Medical Association, the Connecticut State and New Haven County Medical Societies. He is also a member of the Connecticut State Orthopaedic Society, Yale Orthopaedic Association, a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. Dr. McCallum specializes in knee problems including arthritic and sports related injuries. He has been an innovator of hip and knee arthroscopic surgery, salvage and reconstructive techniques, including minimally-invasive treatments with a special interest in orthopeadic knee replacement surgery. He lives with his wife and two children in Guilford, CT. Besides his family, his interests include cycling, sailing, skiing, woodworking and car restoration.
