Dr. Steve C. Baldwin is the President of Deaf Television Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, which encompasses literary, theatrical, athletic and television ventures. He oversees the administration of the Foundation in Austin, Texas. Steve is a retired educator who was in the field of deafness for nearly 40 years in five states. He is an award-winning writer who has written books, theatrical plays, magazine and newspaper articles, television programs and documentary films. He produced, wrote and hosted over 100 national television programs for the old Silent Network operation where he was the Corporate Development Manager. Steve received the 1985 West Texas Cultural Achievement Award in Big Spring, Texas, Literary Achievement Award and the Greenmum Leadership Award by National Association of the Deaf and the Barbara Jordan Media Award by Texas Governor Rick Perry in 2012. Steve is the past president, award-winning newsletter editor and secretary of Texas Association of the Deaf. As an expert on Erastus "Deaf" Smith of the Texas Revolution, he developed an award-winning touring exhibit on Smith's history, which had a stop inside the rotunda of the Capitol of Texas. As a Gallaudet University Hall of Fame inductee, his track and cross-country records remain unbroken since 1967. Steve has a BA in History from Gallaudet University, an MA in Special Education from California State University, Northridge, and a PhD from the University of Texas, Austin in Theatre History, Theory and Criticism.
