Al DeCarlo joined Express Scripts in December 2000 as a Sr. Financial Analyst working with employer, health plan and government clients. He spent a number of years in the financial applications arena, working with business and IT teams to develop leading-edge modeling and analysis tools for clients and internal customers. In his current role, Al directs the efforts of the Data Governance, Data Quality, Client Reporting and Sales Analytics teams. Alec Sharp founded his consulting practice in 1981, now Clariteq Systems Consulting Ltd., and went on to assist many clients with initiating data management programs, developing large database applications, and applying model-driven requirements definition techniques. For the past ten years, he has also been heavily involved in process redesign initiatives, some of which were disguised as ERP implementations or e-Business projects. Interesting recent assignments have included reverse-engineering conceptual models from purchased and legacy applications so clients could understand the business impacts of their systems, helping an insurer establish a business process architecture, conducting a process review of the dialysis programs at a regional hospital, and rescuing e-commerce projects that zeroed in on technology instead of looking at the business process.
Alec is a past president of the British Columbia DAMA chapter, and in 1983 was a founding member of its predecessor. He is a popular conference presenter, and has spoken for DAMA on many occasions, including the DAMA International Symposium, various DAMA Regional Symposia, and numerous chapter meetings. Alec conducts workshops on Data Modeling (introductory and advanced), Workflow Process Modeling, Use Cases, and Application Logic Modeling at large organizations throughout North America and abroad. His book "Workflow Modeling" (co-authored with Patrick McDermott) was published by Artech House in February 2001, and is currently the best-selling book on the topic

He was formerly Chief Technology Officer for the Pepsi Bottling Group and Enterprise Director of Data Warehousing for Pepsico. He was also formerly Vice President of Technology for Computer Systems Advisers, who market the CASE tools called POSE and SILVERRUN. He wrote his own CASE tool in 1984. Xiu McGovern is the Data Quality Management and Governance Executive for Bank of America's Consumer Banking division. In this role, she is responsible for data quality, metadata, lineage and data controls as well as data governance functions for the Customer, Deposits, Mortgage, Card, and Payments domains. Xiu leverages a four-pillar strategy designed to measure, mitigate, control and simplify the data environment. She executes using a risk based approach focused on key business elements and prioritized systems and applications. Her goal is to ensure the Consumer Bank meets or exceeds the enterprise data management policy and standards thus driving financial benefit, improving customer satisfaction and reducing regulatory risk.
Prior to her current role, Xiu was the Analytics Operations Executive for the Customer Segments and Deposits organizations. Her responsibility was focused on optimizing the existing data environment and building new capabilities. She built business intelligence tools that promoted self-service reporting and analytics, and provided new customer and house-hold oriented views of data to facilitate strategy development.
Xiu joined Bank of America in July 2007 as the Small Business Segment Analytics Executive. Prior to joining the bank, Xiu worked internationally and domestically for General Electric in the Consumer Finance and Banking division for 13 years. At GE, Xiu held various roles in Finance, Quality, Project Management, and Pricing and Product Management.
Xiu graduated from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and East Asian Studies. Xiu is also a graduate of GE's Financial Management Program and is a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt.
