DIGITIZATION GUIDELINES

This site is a collaborative effort by federal agencies formed as a group in 2007 to articulate a common sustainable set of technical guidelines, methods, and practices for digitized and born digital historical, archival and cultural content... Recognizing that the effort would require specialized expertise, two separate working groups were formed with the possibility that more tightly focused groups might be necessary as the work progressed. The Still Image Working Group concentrates its efforts on image content such as books, manuscripts, maps, and photographic prints and negatives. The Audio-Visual Working Group focuses its work on sound, video, and motion picture film... While the Working Groups have focused on digitized content, recent projects have broadened the scope to include selected aspects of born digital content.
