Disney Research Los Angeles works on the leading-edge of technology; diving deep into a field or a problem to truly understand the limits and potential of technology for the entire Walt Disney Company... We create a solution for multi-user interactions in AR/MR, where a group can share the same augmented environment with any computer generated asset and interact in a shared story sequence through a third-person POV. Our approach is to instrument the environment leaving the user unburdened of any equipment, creating a seamless walk-up-and-play experience... Creating animations for robotic characters is very challenging due to the constraints imposed by their physical nature. In particular, the combination of fast motions and unavoidable structural deformations leads to mechanical oscillations that negatively affect their performances. Our goal is to automatically transfer motions created using traditional animation software to robotic characters while avoiding such artifacts.
