DSA DERMATOLOGY - Key Persons
Dr. Carmine G. McConnell is a board-certified physician, proudly serving residents of Plano, TX, and surrounding areas. She is known for her comprehensive approach, compassionate manner, and exceptional skills. She has extensive experience in both family medicine and cosmetic dermatological techniques.
Dr. McConnell obtained her training at the McMaster University (Faculty of Health Sciences) University of Toronto, Canada. She went on to earn board certification in Texas. She served as the Chief of Staff of her department at Plano Medical Center. She has practiced medicine for more than 20 years, both in her own practice as well as assisting Dr. Achtman in the practice of dermatology.
Dr. McConnell has completed extensive postgraduate training, including laser therapy and aesthetic surgery. She has trained with the Department of Plastic Surgery at UTSW (University of Texas Southwestern) Medical Center in Dallas, TX, the American Society of Cosmetic Dermatology & Aesthetic Surgery in Las Vegas, and the American Academy of Dermatology in Washington, D.C.
Dr. McConnell provides a wide variety of non-surgical options to help patients improve the health and appearance of their skin. Her areas of expertise include cosmetic lasers and skin care products. She provides treatments to help with wrinkling, uneven skin tones (red and brown), large pores, acne, surgical scars, stretch marks, cellulite, hair removal, and more.

Her experience in general medicine allows her to view her patients in their medical entirety, not just their cosmetic potential. In addition to providing treatment, she strives to help patients understand their own skin, and teach them how to care for and protect it effectively.

Kerissa is also one of our newer medical nursing assistants joining us in 2020. You will recognize her as one of the medical personnel that brings you to see the Doctor. She also hails from Michigan but has made Texas her home. Her family was involved in both Ministry and social work and this has helped provide her with a great sense of compassion, interpersonal skills as well as a respectful communication etiquette. She has a well-versed background in both Dermatology and Family Medicine.
When not working Kerissa enjoys spending time with her daughter, music, painting, roller skating, and volunteering at her church. You will find Kerissa someone who takes her patient's care very seriously, yet is friendly, upbeat, and has a great sense of optimism and humor. At DSA Dermatology you will find Kerissa likes to try to bring a smile to someone's day-no matter their circumstance!
Sally has worked for DSA Dermatology since 2007. You may know her from checking in, checking out, making appointments, or needing a manager to help assist you at our office. She has worn many hats at DSA Dermatology over the years but is currently the lead front office person and receptionist.
Sally grew up in Michigan, but has been in Texas all her adult life. When not at work she loves spending time with her family and grandchildren, taking long walks, and is an avid reader. You will find that Sally almost knows the answer to anything that you may ask about the office. She has an almost photographic memory for all patients when they show up even if they have not been seen in quite a while. We are fortunate to be able to rely on her memory and find it superior to the computer sometimes! You will find Sally friendly, helpful, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile for everyone at DSA Dermatology.
