EUROGRID

The EUROGRID project was a shared cost Research and Technology Development project (RTD) granted by the European Commission (grant no. IST 1999-20247). It is part of the Information Society Technologies Programme (IST). The grant period was Nov 1, 2000 till Jan 31, 2004. The EUROGRID project demonstrated the use of GRIDs in selected scientific and industrial communities, addressed the specific requirements of these communities, and highlighted the benefits of using GRIDs... To establish a European GRID network of leading High Performance Computing centres from different European countries... To operate and support the EUROGRID software infrastructure. The EUROGRID software will use the existing Internet network and will offer seamless and secure access for the EUROGRID users.
