Andie Fox

Andie Fox is a 2020 graduate of the College of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University. She grew up in Iowa and completed her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at South Dakota State University. During that time, she competed on a Division 1 Equestrian Team. She also completed her Master of Science in Biomedical Sciences at Iowa State University. During veterinary school, she served as the president of Iowa State University's American Association of Equine Practitioners Club and vice president of the Theriogenology Club. In her free time, she enjoys reading, showing and breeding reining horses with her husband, and hiking with their dog.

Arnaldo L. Monge

Dr. Monge was born and raised in Puerto Rico. He moved to the United States to attend veterinary school at the University of Florida. After graduating in 1990, he moved to Kentucky, working in the Bluegrass area and eventually joining Hagyard Field Care service in 1995. He is currently a Member of the Practice. Dr. Monge specializes in equine reproduction, acupuncture and chiropractic techniques.

Bradley Kidney

Bradley Kidney is a 2019 graduate of Purdue University, College of Veterinary Medicine. He grew outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. Bradley received his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Purdue University. In his free time he enjoys spending time with his dog, Leo, skiing, racing, hiking, riding, and swimming.

Dr. Jacquelene Pasko

Dr. Jacquelene Pasko was born and raised in Rochester Hills, Michigan. After graduating from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science, she spent a year working in the Thoroughbred industry. During that time, she completed the Kentucky Equine Management Internship and the Hagyard Ambulatory Assistant Internship. In 2015, Dr. Pasko graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, she completed the Hagyard Field Care Internship, becoming a Field Care Associate in 2016. Dr. Pasko's professional interests include emergency medicine, reproduction, neonatology, and maintenance of the horse through all life stages. Additionally, Dr. Pasko takes a special interest in the rehoming and training of Thoroughbreds once their race career is over.

Dr. Nimet Browne

Dr. Nimet Browne studied veterinary medicine at University of Tennessee, graduating in 2010. Following veterinary school, Nimet went on to complete an internship in a private practice in Illinois, then a large animal internal medicine residency at Virginia Tech. During that time, she also obtained a Masters In Public Health with a focus on infectious disease. Following her residency, she completed a yearlong fellowship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. In 2016, she took a faculty position in the equine internal medicine department at North Carolina State University. Her interests include neonatal medicine, gastrointestinal disease, infectious disease and public health. She is currently working on manuscripts regarding infectious causes of diarrhea in neonates as well as the use on enrofloxacin in neonates.

Dr. Peyton Draheim

Dr. Peyton Draheim was born and raised in Charlotte, North Carolina. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Clemson University in 2015 and graduated from Lincoln Memorial University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. She then completed a year-long internship with Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Wellington, Florida before moving to Alabama to complete her Theriogenology residency with an equine emphasis at Auburn University's College of Veterinary Medicine. During this time, she participated in multiple research projects involving advanced reproductive techniques in mares and earned her Masters of Science degree, as well as becoming a diplomate of the American College of Theriogenologists. In her spare time, she enjoys riding American Saddlebreds, reading, and spending time outdoors.

Dr. Stephanie C. Bell

Dr. Stephanie C. Bell is a native of North Carolina. She received her Bachelor of Science from UNC at Chapel Hill in 2001 (Go TarHeels!). Dr. Bell graduated with Phi Zeta honors from the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006. Following graduation, she spent three years in private primary care practice in North Carolina. She completed her rotating internship at the University of Tennessee from 2009-2010 and residency in Comparative Ophthalmology at the University of California-Davis from 2010-2013. Equine ophthalmology is Dr. Bell's passion. Her clinical interests include immune-mediated ocular disease, corneal disease, microsurgery (corneal and cataract surgery), blepharoplasty and other adnexal surgery, and ocular manifestations of systemic disease. Her primary research as a resident focused on novel therapeutics for Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU). Currently she is planning to study Eosinophilic keratoconjunctivitis. As a veterinary ophthalmologist, Dr. Bell feels it is her duty to restore and/or maintain quality vision when possible and comfort always. Providing therapies for visual, pain-free, cosmetic eyes to her patients is essential. She loves bonding with her patients and their owners.

Ernest H. Martinez, II

Dr. Martinez graduated from the Oklahoma State College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. He completed an ambulatory internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute and became a Field Care Associate in 2004 and a member of the practice in 2014. His practice includes emergency field medicine, herd health and wellness, neonatal foal care, mare and stallion reproduction, and equine dentistry. He currently oversees our intern and extern student programs. Dr. Martinez is actively involved with veterinary medicine organizations, holding positions in the Kentucky Association of Equine Practitioners and the National American Association of Equine Practitioners. His personal interests include veterinary leadership development and practice management. His wife practices small animal emergency medicine in Lexington, KY. They live in Versailles with their son, daughter and two dogs.

Dr. Jim Smith grew up in Hutchinson and Salina Kansas. He was in practice with Dr. Al Mitchell in Hutchinson for a short time, then on the faculty at Kansas State School of Veterinary Medicine for a year. Following Kansas State he was in practice in Wichita Kansas before coming to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in 1962. Dr. Smith was a Member of the Practice from 1970-2004 and is currently retired. James R. Purvis

Dr. Purvis was born and raised in Midway, Kentucky where he grew up with draft and pleasure horses. He began working with Thoroughbreds at age fourteen while at Waterford Farm where he worked for seven years. Dr. Purvis has also worked at Marqaux Farm, first as a yearling groom and then as a stallion manager and farm manager for over 13 years. He was also farm manager at Winter Quarter Farm. He completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Kentucky and received his DVM from Auburn University.

Jaye L. McCracken

Dr. McCracken attended Cornell College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1999. She completed a rotating internship at Hagyard and then continued on as Field Care Associate.She was trained in veterinary acupuncture through IVAS in 2006. She actively purses the advancement of equine field care through various research projects, primarily focused on Rhodococcus equi in foals. She has published papers, book chapters and given lectures on the topic. She has also been an active voice for general foal field care. Her interests are in field medicine, herd health, broodmare management, neonatal care, medical ultrasonography, and field emergency and critical care. Current Research Projects

Jeffery L. Pumphrey

Dr. Pumphrey has a BS and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Texas A&M University. He also studied veterinary medicine at the University of Pretoria in the Republic of South Africa. Dr. Pumphrey practiced veterinary medicine in West Texas for three years prior to coming to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in 1985. He is a Member of the Practice and specializes in reproduction and sales work.

Jeremy Shaba

Dr. Shaba graduated from The Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2015. Following graduation, he completed a one-year field care internship at Hagyard. After his internship he traveled to the southern hemisphere to work the breeding season in Matamata, New Zealand. At the end of his time there he returned to Hagyard Equine as a field care associate. Dr. Shaba enjoys all aspects of equine primary care but has a special interest in reproduction, ophthalmology, and lower airway disease. In his free time, he enjoys running and long walks with his dog, Charlie.

Jessica Gould

Dr. Gould is originally from Hanover County, Virginia, where she grew up riding hunters. She attended undergraduate school at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech, Go Hokies!), completing dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Animal and Poultry Sciences and Biology. She then went on to graduate school at University of Kentucky, where her studies focused on equine parasitology. Dr. Gould returned to Blacksburg, Virginia to attend the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine and earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015. After graduation, Dr. Gould completed a yearlong combined hospital and ambulatory internship at Blue Ridge Equine Clinic in Earlysville, Virginia, during which she found her affinity for sports medicine. She completed a second internship, focused on sport horse practice, with Dr. Duncan Peters and Dr. Lori Bidwell at East-West Equine Sports Medicine; during this time, she became a FEI treating veterinarian and served as an official show veterinarian for the Great Lakes Equestrian Festival. From 2017 to 2019, Dr. Gould was an associate veterinarian for Foxwood Equine Sports Medicine. While working for Foxwood, she completed acupuncture training at the Chi Institute. She's also had the pleasure of working with clients in multiple states at multiple shows

Karen E. Wolfsdorf

Dr. Karen Wolfsdorf attended veterinary school at the University of Florida and graduated in 1992. After completion of her DVM, she began an equine field service internship at North Carolina State University. In 1995, Dr. Wolfsdorf completed a residency in Theriogenology at the University of Florida and became board certified in Theriogenology. Before coming to Hagyard Equine Medical Institute, she spent time working in Australia with Dr. Pascoe at Oakey Veterinary Hospital. In 1996, Dr. Wolfsdorf joined Hagyard as an Associate and in 2002 she became one of the first two woman Members of the Practice. Dr. Wolfsdorf's main area of interest is infertility in the mare and problems during pregnancy. She spends her time working as a field veterinarian and as a specialist at the McGee Fertility Center. She has authored many chapters on equine reproduction as well as lectured worldwide and published research regarding progesterone, retained endometrial cups and equine twin reduction with cranio-cervical dislocation. Dr. Wolfsdorf and her husband are involved as owners and breeders in the Thoroughbred industry and have two daughters who ride pony hunters.

Kathy C. MacGillivray

Dr. MacGillivray attended the University of Pennsylvania and obtained her veterinary degree in 1998. Following her internship at Peterson and Smith in Ocala Florida from June of 1998 through June of 1999, Dr. MacGillivray returned to New Bolton Center for her internal medicine residency. After her residency, Dr. MacGillivray worked as an emergency clinician at New Bolton Center and for some local private ambulatory practices. Dr. MacGillivray joined the Hagyard Equine Medical Institute McGee Medicine Center in Lexington, Kentucky as an Internal Medicine Associate in 2003.

Kristina G. Lu

Dr. Lu was raised in Philadelphia, PA. After practicing in Chester County, PA, she came to Hagyard in 2005. Her passion is Theriogenology (Animal Reproduction Specialist). Her proudest personal accomplishment is having cycled from Santa Monica to Washington D.C. with her Dad.

Luke H. Fallon

Dr. Fallon graduated from the University of Notre Dame in 1992 and completed his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at Cornell University in 1996. He completed an internship at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute in 1997 and is a Member of the Practice. Dr. Fallon is the fifth consecutive generation of the Hagyard family to work in the practice since its inception in 1876 by his great great grandfather. Dr. Fallon is actively involved in the community serving on the board of the Bluegrass Conservancy, and the Lexington School. He is a founding member and on the board of Horse Country, of which Hagyard Equine Medcial is a proud stakeholder.

Megan Cassidy

Megan Cassidy is a 2020 graduate of Western University of Health Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine. She grew up with foxhunters and steeplechase horses outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and in Northern Virginia. She received her Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from University of Kentucky in 2013. In her senior year at UK, she began working as a technician in the McGee Medicine Center where she continued to work for three years. Before starting veterinary school, she also spent time working with veterinarians at Fair Hill Training Center. Her interests outside of veterinary medicine include riding her off the track Thoroughbred, spending time with friends and family, and following horse racing.

Michele L. Frazer

Dr. Michele Frazer, a native of Lexington, Kentucky, attended the University of Kentucky for her undergraduate education before graduating from Auburn College of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. After working in a referral clinic in Birmingham, Alabama, she completed a medicine residency at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute and obtained board certification in internal medicine in 1999. After her residency, Dr. Frazer served as an equine clinician and instructor at Kansas State Veterinary College before returning to Lexington and establishing a solo practice. Dr. Frazer joined Hagyard Equine Medical Institute as an Internal Medicine Specialist in 2004. In 2011, she obtained Diplomate status in the Veterinary College of Emergency and Critical Care Medicine as well as certification in equine acupuncture. Although Dr. Frazer enjoys all aspects of equine internal medicine, she has a particular interest in protein losing enteropathies, neonatology, and critical care medicine. Dr. Frazer regularly speaks at nationally recognized meetings including the AAEP and ACVIM forums, publishes in veterinary journals, and is co-editor of an ultrasound atlas.

Rachael Thomas

Rachael Thomas is a 2019 graduate of Auburn University, College of Veterinary Medicine. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and grew up outside of Birmingham, Alabama, where she attended Jefferson Country International Baccalaureate School. She completed her Bachelor of Sciences in 2015 at Auburn University, where she served as secretary and president of the Auburn University Horseman's Club, volunteered at a local equine therapy center, Storybrook Farm, and spent a semester interning at Kentucky Equine Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center. In her free time, she enjoys reading, trail riding, and spending time with her dogs and cats.

Sally Farnsworth

Dr. Farnsworth is a native Texan with a bachelor's degree in Microbiology from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master's in Agriculture, with an emphasis on equine reproduction, from Texas A&M University. Following her undergraduate degree, Dr. Farnsworth completed the Kentucky Equine Management Internship at Dixiana Farms in Lexington. Prior to attending Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, she worked at WinStar Farm overseeing a broodmare barn and one of their hyperbaric chambers. She has also attended the Chi Institute for equine acupuncture. Prior to beginning her internship with Hagyard Sally practiced with a mobile equine practice in Ft. Worth, Texas. After completing her internship at Hagyard, she decided to join the Field Care team full time. In her spare time Dr. Farnsworth enjoys traveling, cooking, walking with her Bull Dog Ace and following horse racing.
