C. David Herring

C. David Herring, was born on March 18, 1943 in Muncie, Indiana, to Morris and Margaret Herring. David grew up in Goshen, Indiana. He graduated from Goshen High School in 1961 and from Indiana University, Bloomington in 1965 with a B.A. In 1968, David graduated from Indiana University, Bloomington's School of Law, with a Juris Doctorate degree, earning cum laude honors. While in law school, he was a Staff Member of the Indiana Law Journal (1967-1968) and in 1967, won the Best Brief award in the National Moot Court competition sponsored by the American Bar Association. While in law school, David was commissioned as an officer in the United States Army. Upon completion of law school and admission to the Indiana State Bar in 1968, David and family moved to Fort Ord, California. While in the Army, David served in the Judge Advocate General's Corps as a legal officer from 1965 to 1972. In 1970, David was chosen to serve as Counsel to the witnesses testifying before the U.S. Senate Committee on Government Operations. David then served as a Military Judge from 1970 to 1972, and was honorably discharged as a Captain, JAGC, U. S. Army in 1972. In 1971, David was admitted to the California Bar. Upon completion of his service in the Army, the family moved to San Diego County, wherein David established his own law firm. David had a full time law practice in San Diego County since 1972. David served as an adjunct evening Professor of Law at Western State University (now known as Thomas Jefferson School of Law) from 1972-1992. There are numerous attorneys still practicing in the San Diego community today whom recall fondly David as their instructor and mentor. In 1989, his daughter Margaret joined his law practice and later became a partner; they worked together for over 30 years prior to David's untimely passing. David's practice was focused on real estate and business matters. David was a highly esteemed member of the legal community, serving at various times as a member of the San Diego Superior Court Judge Pro Tem Panel. His biography was published in various editions of Who's Who in American Law, Who's Who in California, and Who's Who in the World.

Margaret K. Herring

Margaret attended San Diego State University; University of San Diego (Paralegal Certificate, 1989); Thomas Jefferson School of Law (J.D., 1996). Has been on the court appointed attorney list for the County of San Diego to represent incapacitated adults since 2008. Member: State Bar of California, the San Diego County Bar Association, and the Probate Attorneys of San Diego (PASD). Currently serving on the Board of Directors for PASD, in the office of Treasurer.
