The Alabama IAC is one of 31 Industrial Assessment Centers nationwide. The IAC program is sponsored by the US Department of Energy's Advanced Manufacturing Office... Our mission is to assist manufacturers in the state of Alabama by identifying opportunities to reduce energy consumption and save money. In doing so, our program reduces Alabama's carbon footprint and trains engineers of tomorrow in energy-saving practices... Student/faculty teams make assessment visits to manufacturers in Alabama and provide each with a detailed report of energy- and money-saving recommendations at no cost to the client. Since 2007, the AIAC has completed over 250 assessments for manufacturers in a variety of industries and made recommendations to save over $48 million.
