ISL - Institute of Shipping Economics and Logistics was founded in Bremen in 1954. Combining tradition and modern science, we have since positioned ourselves as one of Europe's leading institutes for research, consulting and know-how transfer in maritime logistics... The ISL was founded on March 30, 1954 as the Institute for Maritime Research in the legal form of a non-profit foundation under private law with the purpose of conducting and promoting scientific maritime research. It emerged from the Foundation for the Promotion of the Establishment of an International University in Bremen, which had been established by the Senate of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen in June 1948... In its seven areas of competence, ISL offers, among other things, market analyses and forecasts, organises application-oriented innovative funded projects related to maritime logistics, and develops as well as integrates IT systems.
