Alan Payne joined Investure's Investment team in 2019. Previously, Alan worked at Investure as a Summer Investment Analyst. Alan earned his MS in Commerce with a concentration in Finance from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia, and a BA in Psychology with a minor in Global Culture and Commerce from the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Virginia.
Alex Douglas joined Investure in May 2019. Previously she worked at the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, where she focused on hedge funds as well as traditional equity and fixed income investments. Prior to joining the foundation, she worked at the Georgetown University Investment Office, where she focused on public market investments, macroeconomic research, and asset allocation. Earlier in her career, Alex worked for a private foundation effort within the Atlantic Media Company, where she oversaw programming focused on the U.S. policy response to terrorism and the advancement of civil society in developing countries.
Alex earned her BS from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University and a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins University Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). She serves as a member of the Investment Committee for both The Madeira School in McLean, Virginia and the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation.

Alex Swartz joined Investure in January 2017 and is a partner at the firm. Prior to joining Investure, Alex was a corporate counsel at Amazon where he worked on a variety of corporate matters. Before joining Amazon, Alex practiced corporate law at Weil, Gotshal & Manges where he primarily represented corporations, investment banks and other market participants in a variety of capital markets and finance transactions.
Alex earned his BA in History from the University of Virginia and his JD from Columbia Law School.
Andriy Shapowal joined Investure in January 2011 and is a partner at the firm. Before becoming Co-Chief Investment Officer in summer 2021, he served as the Head of Manager Selection. Prior to joining Investure, Andriy was a Managing Director at the University of Virginia Investment Management Company (UVIMCO) where he was responsible for UVIMCO's equity and hedge fund portfolios. Before working at UVIMCO, he was a member of the investment team at JPMorgan Partners and its predecessor firm, Chase Capital Partners, where he participated in a wide variety of direct public and private equity investments.
Andriy earned his BS with highest honors from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia and an MBA from Stanford's Graduate School of Business. Throughout the 1990s, Andriy represented the United States in international soccer competitions as a member of the U.S. National Team programs.
Ashley Knott joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2019. Previously, Ashley worked in public accounting, providing tax and audit services to a range of clients. Ashley has a BS in Commerce with a concentration in Accounting from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce and has her CPA.
Bethanny joined Investure's HR & Administration team in 2023. Previously, Bethanny was a licensed Realtor and an Academic Secretary at a private school. Bethanny earned her ASB in Criminal Justice from McCann School of Business and Technology.
Bruce Miller joined Investure in April 2004 to help found Investure. Before becoming CEO in January 2018, Bruce led and managed investments in the private asset classes, including venture capital, buyouts, and real estate. As CEO, he continues to serve as a member of the Investment Team helping source and manage investments. Prior to joining Investure, Bruce was a Partner at Carmel Partners, a real estate private equity partnership, where he was responsible for investments in the Northern California region. Before joining Carmel, Bruce was Vice President of Corporate Development for iMediation, a global software company, and worked at Intel Capital where he led strategic venture investments in software and internet businesses. Earlier in his career, Bruce worked at Ryland Group and Trammell Crow where he held various operating and investment roles.
Bruce earned his BA in economics from the University of Virginia and his MBA from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where he was the Trammell Crow Fellow. Bruce serves on the board of Jefferson Scholars Foundation.
Casey Halfacre joined Investure's HR & Administration team in 2023. Casey earned her BA in American Studies from the University of Virginia.
Chad Morgan joined Investure in 2008 and manages investments across private asset classes, including private equity, venture capital, and opportunistic investments globally. Prior to Investure, Chad was a Director at the University System of Maryland Foundation, and before that he was an Associate at Frontier Capital, a private equity firm in Charlotte. Earlier in his career, Chad was an Associate and Analyst in the Corporate Finance Group at SG Cowen & Co. in San Francisco.
Chad earned his BA from Davidson College and MBA from The Fuqua School of Business at Duke University. Chad serves as a Trustee of Davidson College, where he is Chairman of the Investment Committee and a member of the Executive Committee of the Board.
Chelsea Wells joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2024. Previously, Chelsea worked for several private companies in the Charlottesville, Virginia area. Chelsea earned her AS of Accounting from Purdue University Global.
Chris Wolfe joined Investure's Reporting & Analytics Team in 2020. Previously, Chris worked at CFA Institute as a Principal Software Developer, and at Dupont Community Credit Union as the VP for Software Development. Prior to that, he worked at Crutchfield as the Team Lead for Web Development. Chris earned his BS in Computer Science from Virginia Tech.
Derek Anderson joined Investure's Reporting & Analytics team in 2018. Previously, Derek worked at the International Monetary Fund and the Virginia Retirement System. Derek earned his MS in Systems Engineering from the University of Virginia, a MA in Economics from the University of Virginia, and a BS in Economics from Trinity College (Hartford).
Drew Varnes joined Investure in 2018 to lead the Accounting & Treasury Team and is a partner at the firm. Prior to joining Investure, Drew led the investment management finance function at Vulcan, Inc., the family office for Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen. In his role at Vulcan, Drew led a team with responsibility for all aspects of accounting, operations, and performance analysis for Vulcan's multi-billion dollar investment portfolio. Prior to joining Vulcan, Drew was the Director of Fund Administration and Operational Due Diligence at Cornerstone Advisors, Inc., a registered investment advisor. Before Cornerstone, Drew held several roles at BlackRock Alternative Advisors (formerly known as Quellos Group), including Vice President of Hedge Fund Operational Due Diligence and Vice President of Investment Operations. Drew began his career with Deloitte & Touche LLP as a staff auditor.
Drew graduated from the University of Washington with a BA in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. In addition, Drew graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Master of Professional Accounting with a concentration in Financial Reporting and Assurance. Drew also completed his Master of Tax, with highest honors, from Golden Gate University. Drew is a licensed CPA, holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Elizabeth Matney joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2017. Previously, Elizabeth worked in the Regions Bank Capital Markets Operations group. Elizabeth earned her BS in Finance from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a MS in Finance from Georgia State University, and is a Certified Treasury Professional (CTP).
Felipe Buitrago joined Investure's Investment team in 2021 and works primarily across private asset classes. Previously, Felipe interned at a trading firm and at a financial conglomerate in Colombia. Felipe earned his BS in Commerce with concentrations in Finance and Management from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Franny Motley joined Investure's Investment team in 2023. Previously, Franny worked at VW Equity as a private equity research intern. Franny earned her BA in Economics from the University of Virginia.
Frederick Nolde joined Investure in June 2015 and helps oversee investments, particularly focused on the public asset classes, including equity, credit, and hedge fund opportunities globally. Prior to joining Investure, Frederick was the Chief Investment Officer of BDC Investments, LLC, a single family investment office in Richmond, Virginia. Prior to BDC Investments, Frederick was the Managing Director of Investments for The Riverstone Group, LLC, a single family office where his primary responsibilities included managing the investment portfolio and sourcing new investment opportunities. Prior to Riverstone, Frederick was an Equity Research Analyst with J.P. Morgan Asset Management where he focused on the media and retail sectors.
Frederick holds a degree in Economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business. Frederick is also a Chartered Financial Analyst. Frederick serves on the investment committees for the Charlottesville Area Community Foundation and Virginia529.
Garrett Trent joined Investure's HR & Administration team in 2023. Previously, Garrett worked at Lee Construction Group and Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville. Garrett earned his MS in Marketing and Management from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce and BA degrees in Religious Studies and Biology from the University of Virginia. He is a Certified Talent Acquisition Specialist through the Academy to Innovate HR (AIHR) and a graduate of Leadership Charlottesville.
Hannah Jennings joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2023. Previously, Hannah worked at Cornerstone Fund Services as a Fund Accountant and at Goldman Sachs on their Payment and Reconciliation team. Hannah earned her BA degrees in Finance and Marketing from the University of Mississippi.
Janki McDermott joined Investure's Reporting & Analytics team in 2021. Previously, she ran her own web design and development consulting firm. Prior to starting her consultancy, she worked in advertising technology in New York City. Janki earned her BS in Applied Mathematics from Old Dominion University and her MS in Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Jasmine Young joined Investure's Reporting and Analytics Team in 2022. Previously, she worked at Ernst and Young as an auditor in their Banking and Capital Markets practice. Jasmine earned her BA in Business Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles, and is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of California.
Jason (Tong) Kang joined Investure in 2023. Prior to Investure, he held various roles at China Renaissance, Hillhouse Capital and CICC Capital Management. Jason began his career with The Legacy Foundation as an investment analyst.
Jason earned his BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce, and earned his MBA from the Yale School of Management. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Jess Croes joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2013. Previously, Jess worked at Hantzmon Wiebel, LLP. Jess earned her BBS in Accounting from Florida Metropolitan University.
Jill Cady joined Investure's Client Relations team in 2018. Previously, Jill worked at Valtura Capital Partners, Roundtable Investment Partners, Bridgewater Associates, and Citi Private Bank. Jill earned her BBA in Economics and International Relations from University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University.
Jim Walkup joined Investure's Reporting & Analytics team in 2019. Prior to joining Investure, Jim worked as the U.S. IT Manager for Biotage, LLC. Prior to that, he was an IT consultant for Helix Computer Systems. Jim is a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer.

Joanna Pratt joined Investure in 2022 and is a partner at the firm. Prior to Investure, Joanna was a Managing Director at the Johns Hopkins University Investment Office, where she led the markets and risk functions. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, Joanna was a Director at Stanford Management Company, where she oversaw risk, capital markets, and liquidity. Earlier in her career, Joanna worked at Citadel Investment Group, where she was a Portfolio Manager and invested across a variety of fundamental and quantitative strategies.
Joanna earned her AB in economics with high honors from Princeton University and her MBA from Stanford University, where she was a Siebel Scholar and Arjay Miller Scholar. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.
Karen Liddy joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2019. Previously, she worked at Deloitte & Touche LLP as an IT Auditor. Karen earned her BA in Astronomy and Physics from the University of Virginia, and her Master of Accountancy from the College of William & Mary. Karen is a Certified Public Accountant licensed in the state of Virginia.
Kevin Teng joined Investure's Legal & Compliance team in 2022. Prior to joining Investure, Kevin was an attorney with Davis Graham & Stubbs in Denver, Colorado, where he represented mutual funds, private funds, registered investment advisers, governmental retirement plans, and private foundations. Before joining Davis Graham, Kevin was an associate in the Investment Management group at K&L Gates in Boston. Kevin earned his BA in International Studies from The Johns Hopkins University and his JD from the Boston University School of Law.
Margot Johnson joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2024. Previously, Margot worked at Weaver as a Forensic Accountant and at MUFG as a Fund Accountant. Margot earned her BA in Finance and Masters in Accounting from Texas Christian University.
Maria Paula Guzman joined Investure's Client Relations team in 2023. Maria Paula earned her BS in Commerce with concentrations in Marketing and Management and a track in Business Analytics from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia.
Mimi Hyde joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2017. Prior to joining Investure, Mimi worked in the tax department at Hantzmon Wiebel LLP. In addition, she owned and operated a retail business in downtown Charlottesville from 2013 through 2016. Mimi earned her BS in Commerce from the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce, and is a Certified Public Accountant, licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Nirman Dutta joined Investure's Reporting & Analytics team in 2013. Previously, Nirman worked at Profunds Advisors and Legg Mason. Nirman earned his PPGDBA in Finance from ICFAI Business School, India, and a BS in Computer Applications from the University of Indore, India.
Patrick Baldwin joined Investure's Accounting & Treasury team in 2023. Previously, Patrick worked at BDO USA as a Senior Tax Associate. Patrick earned his BSBA in Accounting from Tennessee Technological University.
Puja Seam joined Investure in February 2012 to build Investure's internal legal function and serve as its first General Counsel. A partner of the firm, she is Chief Operating Officer with responsibility for the Client, Legal & Compliance, and HR & Administration Teams. Prior to joining Investure, Puja was a corporate associate in the Chicago office of Latham & Watkins LLP where she represented private equity firms, investment banks, corporations, and other market participants in fund formation, capital market offerings, mergers and acquisitions, and other investment transactions. Before joining Latham & Watkins LLP, Puja practiced corporate law at WilmerHale LLP and clerked for then Vice Chancellor Leo E. Strine, Jr. in the Delaware Court of Chancery. Puja began her career as an analyst in the investment banking division of Goldman Sachs in New York.
Puja earned her B.A. in Government and Foreign Affairs with high honors from the University of Virginia, where she was an Echols Scholar, and her J.D. from Harvard Law School. Puja is a member of the Virginia Board of Trustees of The Nature Conservancy and the Financial Resources Committee of St. Anne's Belfield School. She also serves on the Investment Committee of Sweet Briar College. She is a former President of the Benefactors' Board of the University of Virginia's College of Arts & Sciences and an emeritus member of the Board of Managers of the University of Virginia Alumni Association.
Sarah Silke joined Investure's Client Relations team in 2021. Previously, Sarah worked at Cambridge Associates. Sarah has a BS in Business Administration with a concentration in Management from Christopher Newport University and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.
Vitali Bezouchko joined Investure in September 2017 to lead the Reporting & Analytics team and is a partner at the firm. Prior to Investure, Vitali spent 11 years at Citco USA Inc, where he worked in various groups including middle office operations, and fund accounting teams. He also handled related client-specific projects and technology initiatives. His last year with Citco, he was heading the Fund Accounting group in Charlotte, NC, where he was responsible for day-to-day operations while working on several strategic technology and marketing initiatives. Prior to Citco, Vitali worked at Citi Group and State Street, focusing on various operational, quantitative and technology initiatives.
Vitali earned his Honours BA in Economics and Sociology from the University of Toronto.
