Legacy opened its doors as University Credit Union in 1955 to serve the UAB community. After serving the education and healthcare industries for more than 50 years, we expanded our field of membership to include the 7-county Greater Birmingham Metropolitan Area, changing our name to Legacy Community Federal Credit Union at the beginning of 2006. So if you live, work, worship, or attend school in Jefferson, Shelby, Blount, St. Clair, Walker, Chilton, and Bibb counties, you're eligible for membership... We began as UAB's credit union in 1955-even before it was a four-year college. Step by step, we've grown alongside UAB by helping students, faculty, and employees succeed.
