Richard K. Sutz brings more than 30 years of experience in the research, development and manufacture of renewable energy technologies. He is an internationally acknowledged expert in the development of multiblade wind machines for water pumping (windmills) and electrical generation (wind turbines.) Sutz is the Founder and CEO of Low Wind LLC. Low Wind's technology is the result of more than $5.5 million of R&D. Its Water Pumping Windmills pump more water, at any wind speed, from any depth to water, at a lower cost than any other windmill in the world. Low Wind's wind turbines generate utility-grade power in wind speeds beginning at 4-5 MPH (which prevail over approximately 90% 0f the earth's land mass), at an unsubsidized cost of less than three cents ($0.03) per KWH. Generally, wind turbines require minimum wind speeds of 15 MPH (24 KPH) to operate cost effectively. Prevailing wind speeds of 15 MPH only occur over about 10% of the earth's land surface. Prevailing wind speeds beginning at 4-5 MPH (6 -8 KPH), where Low Wind's wind machines operate cost effectively, occur over about 90% of the earth's surface. Sutz's patent pending wind turbine technology permits cost effective use of 90% of the earth's surface that have prevailing low wind speeds, heretofore insufficient for the use of any standard wind turbine. Sutz served as the Assistant Director for Europe and the Middle East for Grumman Aircraft where he was responsible for marketing military aircraft. After Europe he served as Deputy Director of the Arizona Energy Office, with joint responsibility for Arizona Energy Conservation Programs. He then joined the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as Director of the Energy Related Inventions Program. He left DOE to form a company where he developed a new class of wind machines that pump water (windmills) and generate power (wind turbines) in wind speeds beginning at 5 MPH.
